WINE or not to WINE?
Would one glass a day be BAD for me when Im trying to lose 5-6 lbs?
I have read something recently that said one glass a day could be beneficial for weight loss.
any thoughts?
Wine has health benefits in moderation. It won't destry your diet to have a glass of wine each day, but I don't think it will help it either.
I find that drinking wine actually stops me from craving sweets and junk food and generally causes me to crave real, substantial stuff on a regular basis. Just be careful not to drink too much because then you might lose your inhibitions and eat when you aren't really hungry. Moderation is the key!!
I haven't read anything about it being good for weight loss but I have read about it lowering cholesterol and having antioxidants. It will stimulate your stomach to produce acid which may make you hungrier.
If your daily calorie allowance will fit it reasonably, I don't think there's a problem. If you only consume 1200 calories, you may want to make it a 3 oz glass. I don't think getting over 10% of your cals from an alcoholic beverage is a good idea regularly.
definitely wine... if you want it... have it! that's my mantra for everything, i just plan it into my day.
so how many cals in a regular glass of wine?
Mmmm. Wine.
Word on the street is that it may do more good than damage. I intend to explore the theory thoroughly.

About 85 calories in a 3.5 oz glass.
thats not terrible. i think ill have a glass of red this evening :)
Wine has many proven health benefits. ![]()
Better to have a glass or wine at night than a glass of ice cream.
However, I suppose one could have a wine float.
I love a glass of red wine at night, last night I had a small dish of spaghetti, a slice of garlic bread and a glass of wine. Very satisfying.
Drink up,
Sue
Red wine's better than white for a lot of reasons, lower in sugar too. When I have a glass or two with dinner, I just make that my treat for the day and don't do dessert or a before-bed snack.
However, I suppose one could have a wine float.
That sounds gross, but you know what's surprisingly delicious (though decidedly not diet-friendly)--beer float. A good, dark beer (like my fave wintertime beer, Sweetwater Festive) and some vanilla ice cream. Yum.
WHo drinks 3.5 oz glasses of wine?
Is there a stat for Goblet??
Haha. I agree though about the moderation.. It also helps me curb sweets cravings but after one too many then I find myself in the cheese drawer in the fridge nibbling away at some delectable hunk of triple creme something or other..... YIKES.
Wine has several health benefits - so go ahead and have a glass! I have a glass each night with my meal. I have not noticed any relation to weight gain/loss. It's not that many calories.
i'm 16 and i wanted to get drunk to avoid binging..so can red wine make ppl drunk in one gla
I can't live without a nice class of wine - and have been having at least a glass a day all through my diet, and have still lost a great deal of weight. As long as you log it :)

You wanted to get drunk to avoid binging? Probably not likely to help. Even if you don't make poorer food choices when drunk (I know I do), you're going to be taking in mostly empty calories in alcoholic drinks. People can binge on drinks too.
A 3.5 oz glass! HAH! I found the perfect glass at Walmart, really classy, it's plastic and it holds a half a bottle in one glass. Therefore, I only had one glass....well maybe two!

HA agreed....booze always gets in the way of my CC
For me, if I want to drink, I'll choose red wine. I love love love beer but I can drink so much more of it and then also eat a ton of food so it destroys my efforts. If I have wine, the most I'll have is two glasses and I'm much more sensible with my food choices.
