Wine Stain on wall - off topic I know but this is bad

Quote  |  Reply

Ok...had friends over for dinner and while we were passing around salad - WABANG....glass of Merlot goes down....and splashes all over my wall.  Tried to clean it with the magic eraser  (wine out etc) right away then played it off not to ruin the meal or make my friend feel bad.  It is not coming off.  The wall is camel in  color I guess and dull - matte? not the glossy paint.  Anyone have any suggestions but repainting?  I have the carpet guy coming tomorrow to do the chair and carpet lol.  Cheers!

mix up a powerful solution of oxy clean and rub it in there real good.  that gets most stuff out and shouldn't damage your paint.
This happened to me at my apartment years ago - matte paint, WHITE.  The owner had to have the wall repainted.  It was bad.  A 5 liter box of red BROKE while I was opening it, it was a gusher.  Good luck, I don't know oxy clean but that's gotta be easier than repainting.
Not sure about walls, but I know what gets red wine out of fabric or carpet:  white wine.  Works like a charm, and immediately.  Worth a try on the wall, I suppose.
I saw the topic and thought wine on the walls sounds like a hell of a party.  Definitely try some of these ideas but my suspicion is that painted walls are porous so it probably is a stain.
thanks everyone but I think it's time to decide on a new color of paint!  At least it may burn some calories this weekend lol!  I've tried everything but it's not movin'.  It was worth a shot though cheers 8 - )
Sorry, me again.  I just wanted to add that when that 5 liter box broke in my kitchen, it was like a scene out of "The Shining".  Seriously.  Elevator door opening, floods of red liquid...
I would buy a can of Kiltz and spray it first, before painting.

kiltz keeps any stain from showing or leaking through.
...add another reason to the list of why I don't drink.
a friend of mine in maintenance for Sears uses shaving cream in the can.  I saw him clean up a large red wine stain on a white carpet.  By the time he was finished you couldn't see it.  He just kept rubbing in the shaving cream and blotting.
