What wines go best with Italian food?
I was going to put this in the Foods section but then I realized it has nothing to do with healthy alternatives or diet foods ha.
Anyway, I am making my bf dinner for his b-day. I am making chicken parmesan and I think I should grab a bottle of wine to go with. However I am clueless when it comes to pairing wine and food. Any suggestions??

Hi, usually you would pair a white wine with chicken. However, since it is in a red sauce you should go with a red. A nice red italian table wine would be great and reasonable. You serve it at room temperature. Good luck with your meal!
valpolicella and barolo are pretty classic dry italian reds. you should be able to find a good selection and a wide range of prices.
I'm not sure where you live, but a bottle of California Syrah would be fine. It's a red wine that should compliment the flavours in the dish.
Chianti: The kind that comes with the basket woven around the bottle. Used for candle stick holders back in the mod days of the 60's and 70's.

heh! i was too young for the drinking part, but i sure remember the candle holders. and the way the wax was allowed to build up, layer upon layer, on the mantle at the cabin.
Most of these suggestions would work but it also depends a lot on your personal taste. I do not like dry wine so much but i do like a slightly sweet merlot (dark red) I usually buy Huber Winery's Blackberry wine. Its got great flavor and goes with almost anything, including Italian.
My second choice is Oliver Winery's Soft Rose wine. That is my standard pairing for pasta dishes. :)
