Winsor Pilates: 20-Minute Workout
All right, I'd just like to know if anyone here does Winsor Pilates. (At all or the twenty minute workout) Some feedback would on their results would be helpful.
I'm focusing on my core right now. Trying to tone it up nicely after having a baby a year ago. I've lost my extra baby weight, but really want to see some definition in my core. Tightening my ABS.
Would the Winsor Pilates 20 minute workout do that for me?
If so, how quickly do you think one would be able to see results?
Thanks.

Seriously, now.
Someone here has to have done winsor pilates...

i tried it... but didnt get much results.. cuz i didn't eat too great. ha ha.. so i dont know if that counts.
i haven't tried Winsor pilates but i do pilates pretty much every day and i'm defintely getting results. you'll feel it when you do the excercises properly, believe me. take the extra time to pay attention to the correct method and stick with it.
i am currently using also a cardio pilates dvd by crunch called Crunch Fat Burning Pilates. It low impact cardio with pilates techniques worked into the moves. At the end of the tape is about 15 mins of matt work. It's awesome. This video seems to focus a lot on the legs, butt and some core.
in addition, i use ( i know it sounds cheesy, but it's great) MTV pilates. The girl breaks down the moves for you and I found after doing it for a couple of weeks and really understanding the techniques, I'm getting great results. This one really works on the core. I've learned some awesome ab excersises.
Let me know how you like Winsor Pilates. I'm interested in trying more approaches out in the near future.

Hi I just ordered supreme pilates I will let you know how it goes in a week or so after I get it wish me luck
About 2 years ago, i did pilates 5 days a week for 3 months and DEFINITELY noticed a difference. About 9 months ago, i ordered the new pilates - with the sculpting circle. Man - i hate that thing!! It's close to the same workout as the first, but i think the first videos were way better. I have the ones by Mari Winsor. But recently i've started to do them every other day and i think it's helping.
Fantastic. It's nice to hear some good things about it.
A lot of people I asked that I know personally said " I wouldn't get the same results as they boust about in the on their tv commericals. That those kind of results aren't possible for ' real ' people. Because nobody is like the people shown on the infomercials. Or videos/dvds.
That's why I wanted to hear something from people who had actually tried the workout themselves.
Also, Kailie... It doesn't sound cheesy at all. I bought carmen electra's striptease workout. Which sounds... dumb.. But, it's actually a very hard workout. Sure, it's learning a ' sexeh dance.' I thought that aspect would make it silly/fun. And it did. But, I found out you have to be bendy. So it's a workout in itself, just keeping up. Lol Thanks, for the suggestion. I'm not too mature for cheesy workouts.
Thanks so much. I'm going to get on this pilates train daily, and see where it takes my abs. Lol
Please, let me know about all of your future results too. Taebo has always been my main focus in workouts. But, I think this has potential.
Any other posts are welcome... I'd like all the suggestions, I can get.

I have tried windsor pilaes, in fact i have most of her tapes. I like it. Espically if your just starting out. But there are some very Good videos out there caled P90X. It is extremely challengeing set of 12 dvds and they are created by a guy named Tony Horton. Lots of cardio and plyometrics with some strength training a well. I just started these tapes about a week ago with my husband and we love them. Good Luck.
That's awesome. I'll be sure to google those workouts online. I hadn't ever heard of Tony Horton. Thanks for the suggestion, Biabolical. I've never been a very ' bendy ' person so I'm not sure how great I'll actually do with the pilates, if it's a lot like yoga...
But, you're supposed to become more flexible with each workout. Or at least that's what I've heard. . .
Anyone build their flexibility through pilates?
I honestly don't have much 'strength.' I manage to be trim without very much umph! If that makes any sense. Not that I don't have muscle... I've built some. I do hope to improve on that, but I doubt I'll ever be very 'strong ' physically.

I've been doing winsor pilates regularly for about three weeks now, and I have noticed a big difference. I've done pilates before, but I tend to do the moves too quickly, which makes them easier to do. But the tapes really slow everything down, so the moves are a lot harder. It's mainly good for your midsection... It has given me an hourglass shape, even though I'm still quite overweight. My clothes fit so much better. I'd recommend doing it in conjunction with weight lifting, squats, and lunges. Then you'll tone your entire body.
OK I am a poster child for Pilates. I LOVE it, and credit those exercises entirely with me having any abdominal tone at all.
I've had seven major abdominal surgeries. After the sixth (Dec 2005), I realized I needed to do something because my belly was just jelly. So I got a friend to go with me for moral support and we started doing Pilates about twice a week.
I got totally hooked and ended up doing it three times a week regularly. And it's a good thing I did since in August of 2006, I had my seventh major abdominal surgery. I am convinced that Pilates is why I was back in shape and doing my normal workouts within six weeks.
Now I've added yoga and running but the Pilates is still essential to keep my core strong.

I've done it (bought the three DVD set a few years ago). I wrote about it in another thread, so I'll look for it and get back to you.
EDIT: Added below:
Ok, I can't find the post. Anyway, I like the moves in Winsor Pilates a lot. I had the full body one, the abs one, and the 'buns and thighs' one. The only thing I didn't like was that I felt like there was too much time in between "moves." I wasn't trying to rush it..I like the slowness, but I wanted to move on with the workout, and I found I could change my body position and the position of the resistance band way before the DVD was ready.
That said, I really like the "moves" and LOVE the resistance band. I didn't get huge results, but I still like it. I use the " moves" on my own. Obviously the resisitance band is very portable and very versatile. Whenever I travel I take the band with me and do the exercises in my room. I can use it for my legs, arms, abs...everything! It helps me to be consistant with my workout even when I'm not at home and don't have access to my usual dvds/equipment.
Overall, I think these are good because it helps to make a lifestyle change by teaching you simple moves you can do almost anywhere to help you tone up (key = consistancy!).
I wasn't consistant with it for more than three months, but I'm sure if you are you'll have excellent results!

I have felt like my butt and thighs are a lot firmer than they ever used to be, from doing the buns and thighs dvd that came with my winsor pilates video.
Personally- I never feel like I get much out of the regular videos- only the buns and thighs one... I don't know why....

i love the 20 min pilates workout! I do it prbly 3 or 4 times a week. Do them for a month and you will definately feel and see a difference in your body. You really do become longer(from stretching) and leaner(from working on tightening your muscles).
Just remember to keep eating right and maybe even add in some cardio to get faster results.

too funny! a friend just gave me her 20min winsor pilates DVD.
so far, I've done it 3x since Saturday (Aug 11) and holy CRAP do I feel it the next day!
I'm alternating days with the winsor pilates/healthrider/and hand weights. I'm on my elliptical for a minimun 20mins/day every day too (hoping to break this 7 week plateau ugh)
should you do cardio on the same day you do the pilates?
cuz i noticed somewhere, it said you shuld do cardio too...
but what if you did, say, pilates 3 times a week & cardio 2 times a week? or would cardio on the same day give better results?

I used to do that 20min workout 5 times a week, and within 5-6 weeks, I saw major differences!!! I was also doing taebo 5/6 times a week. I love pilates!!!! It made my core soooooooooo strong.
It's fantastic to see all the responses. That's kewl, ninja. I'm a Taebo kinda girl too. I do a Taebo workout daily. I'm totally addicted to my Taebo dvds. Billy Blanks is my Fitness hero. Lol If it weren't for Billy Blanks dvd's I wouldn't have lost my baby weight so quickly.
I've just been wanting to switch my focus a bit. Start doing Taebo and Pilates for my core. I'm so glad that everyone's actually seen results. That's awesome, Tamji... I can't wait to feel the results. That's why I liked Taebo so much. I could feel the burn. Each time I finished I was a sweaty pig. Not that that's attractive by any means. But, it made me feel like I'd just done something productive each day. I'm considering take a before photo, since pictures are brutally honest about results.
I'll definitely do the workout a few months before I jump to any conclusions. That way I don't prejudge the results I'm getting. Sometimes it's hard for me to see my own results. I just get down on myself. " Sheesh. These crunches aren't working! Then someone play punches my belly and says "wow. Getting a stronger belly, huh? " So I know my abdomen is becoming firmer.
I'm very dedicated once given a regiment to follow.
Please, continue to give feedback. Suggestions. Stories. and more. I can't get enough. I'm taking note of all the suggestions given and truly appreciate all the help.
Also Like gokitty was saying.. Is it okay to do two different types of workouts in the same day. Say Taebo and Pilates also. Her question was about doing cardio and pilates in the same day...?

Hey everyone,
I have owned the Windsor Pilates DVD set for about 4 years, and used to do it regularly and loved it because it really stretched me out... then, I had blood clots and gained about 30 pounds in 3 months, leaving me at 165 pounds and 5'4". I have lost about 10 pounds so far, but I do pilates for at least 20 minutes before I work on my elliptical for 30 minutes or so. Of course, diet has much to do with it, but I like it because it is a good stretch before I start cardio, and it calms me down, too.

The elliptical is like a fancy treadmill, right? Sorry, if that sounds like a dumb question but I'd been meaning to ask. Everyone seems to swear by this elliptical machine... Or is it a weight machine?
it looks like this

Kind of a cross between a treadmill and a stair stepper...
