What was or wiould be your 'wedding song' or songs?

I married for the first (and only?) time at 38.  I had what the shoe people called the "rainbow" wedding.   One of my main songs was "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and I had my bridesmaides dressed in different jewel toned bridesmaids dresses.  And of course, their shoes had to match.  I had purple, yellow/gold, burgundy, deep blue, deep green.  My other major song was "Somewhere, Out there" and I can't remember who sang it but it was a gorgeous song.   Any one else out there with great themes for their weddings?

your song - elton john

friends of mine danced their first dance to Zed Zeppelin's "Thank You"...seemed an odd choice to me at the time, until i heard the lyrics, which are as follows:

"If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you.
When mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be you and me.

"Kind woman, I give you my all, Kind woman, nothing more.

Little drops of rain whisper of the pain, tears of loves lost in the days gone by.
My love is strong, with you there is no wrong,
together we shall go until we die. My, my, my.
An inspiration is what you are to me, inspiration, look... see.

And so today, my world it smiles, your hand in mine, we walk the miles,
Thanks to you it will be done, for you to me are the only one.
Happiness, no more be sad, happiness....I'm glad.
If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you.
When mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be you and me."

...brought tears to my eyes then and still does all these years later.

In hindsight, AC/DC's "Highway to Hell" would have been the perfect wedding song.

I walked down the aisle-well rather through the gorgeous pine trees to Fur Elise (my name Smile) by Beethoven and our song was "I Could Never Love You Enough" by Brian McComas.  Oh and we had a song in the middle of our ceremony which was "Pour My Love On You", my aunts did it  but its by Phillips, Craig, and Dean.

April of 1972.   Theme from "Romeo and Juliet" movie and Beatles (John Lennon)  "Love is Real".

For our first dance, we waltzed to a symphonic version of "Moon River."  It was a really beautiful song, full of sweeping strings and woodwinds.

Ribbon in the Sky by Stevie Wonder

The Capenters "We've only Just Begun". I am a sucker for that Karen's voice... and the song is so much about the marriage more than the wedding day. Love it!

If my BF and I ever get married I'd walk down the aisle to "I'll Stand By You" by Berlin and our first dance would be to our song which is a cover of "My Funny Valentine" by a band called Paulson.  It's amazing...and the words just fit us.  Plus his b-day is actually on Valentine's Day.

No matter what, I'm walking down the aisle to "I'll Stand by You".  Whoever I end up marrying would have to be worthy of the lyrics of that song.

"The Way We Were"

(Mykanosdelight has been engaged twice and will NEVER get married!)

I eloped but the wedding song I really liked at the time was from the Carpenters "We've Only Just Begun".  That should tell you about how old I am.
e runs with scissors.  I never read you post before I just posted mine.  That makes me LOL
The song my daughter had at her wedding was "I Give You My Word"
by George Fox.   I still love that song.
whoops double post- sorry

Night on Bald Mountain

Might sound weird to a lot of people but we danced to "Waste" by Phish. very good song.

We just got married in July (7-7-07) and we danced to two songs (One from her to me and one vice versa).

The song she dedicated to me was "Bless the Broken Road" by Rascal Flatts

The song I dedicated to her was "Pistol" by Dustin Kensrue (very good song, I suggest listening to it if you've never heard it)

Was something she picked out...religious etc with 20/20 hindsight I'd pick out...

AC/DC Highway to Hell

Such Great Heights by the Postal Service

We got married August 10 2007 and that was our first dance at our reception.  Its a little bit of a fast song, but it still worked!
