Wisdom Crieth - Devotion

Wisdom is like the very poor man who saved money for a lifetime to go on a cruise. He knew he could not afford to eat well, but at least he could say he had been. On the entire cruise he ate his snacks he had packed and enjoyed the salt spray, clear days, and the endless expanse of view. However, he was envious of those who banqueted three times daily at the open food bars and dessert counters. It was only on the last day of the cruise a shipmate came by and asked if he did not want to eat with the other passengers. He declared, "I would love to, but I can not afford it." To that the mate replied with sadness for his loss, "Dear friend, it is all included in the fare that you paid. You could have had it all." Wisdom crieth without: she uttereth her voice in the streets: She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates:in the city she uttereth her words, saying, how long, ye simple ones will ye love simplicity? and the corners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? (Proverbs 1.20-22) If any lack wisdom, let him ask of God who giveth to all men liberally. (James 1.5a) In my life and those I see in the counseling office, knowing is usually not the problem so much as not wanting to know, or knowing and refusing to do it. Sin, lust, enticement, greed, pride; are so sneaky, deceptive, underhanded, subtle, and covert. Wisdom is in your face and literally crieth unto us, "Here I am use me."
