145 really wish to be 120!

Quote  |  Reply
Hi, I am currently at consistent 145lb and my height is 5'5. I am really active, I jog by the beach about 3-4 times a week and swim from time to time. But no matter how much I work out I can't seem to loose any weight. I am built but loosing an extra 15-20 pounds will really make me seem more confident. I am not sure weather I should persue a 1200 calorie diet..any suggestions? Tnx :)

Hi! I love posting on these things. Okay so your 5'5'' and 145. How old are you? I have a clue to why your not losing as much as you'd like. For your height/weight you need WAY more then 1200. I'm 5'4ish 115 and i eat about 3000 a day. BUT THATS JUST ME :p

so try upping your calories to at least 1800, start lifting weights. For a day write down what you're eating, then sit down and have a good look at it. See anything that might be creeping on the weight?

GOOD LUCK!

We are the same height and weight.  My goal is 125-130 too.  Do you know how many calories you eat now?  Try 1600-- this works for me when I actually follow my calories like I should.

Runnabe-- you say you eat 3000 calories a day to maintain your 115lbs, but your journals say otherwise (700-800 a day).   I think you should follow your own advice and increase your calories.

Like Groovy-girl we are CC twins! I am just under 5"5' and started at 141. I also eat about 1600 calories and since January 1st have lost 5lbs...yeah!! Its been slow progress but I'll admit, I'm not always due-diligent on saying NO to fast food and YES to the gym but Im getting so much better...

Anyway... I would suggest upping your calories to about 1600. You can try zigzagging them by throwing in a day of 1200 cals and another day of 1850, this confuses your body and keeps your metabolism running.

The tools on the site say we burn about 1750 calories sitting on our bums all day (assuming your around 23) ... you say your pretty active so I would say you burn about 2100 cals a day AT LEAST. If you figure 2100 cals burned, plus say you burn another 300 jogging thats 2400... if you only eat 1200 cals then you're at a deficit of 1200!!! I aim for a deficit of only 500 because we are still at a "healthy" BMI or at least really close to it. If you don't eat enough your body will just go into starvation mode and hold onto the fat you have--- and we DON'T want THAT!

Also... try working some weight training into your routine... muscle burns more calories when your sedentary... and even if the scale doesn't move fast you'll notice differences in the mirror!

Goodluck and if you need a buddy just message me :)

also try lifting weights to burn more

groovygirl, i'd like it if you and everyone else around here stopped jumping down others throats. those post were from when i started recovering, and unless you talk to me first, you have no idea how much i'm eating/how hard im working out/or my weight

so please be quiet, and focus on yourself
