Within 7lbs and STUCK!

Quote  |  Reply

22F losing motivation.  I don't care about the pounds necessarily (already healthy BMI), just looking to tone up and fit into an old pair of jeans.  Easier said than done.  I don't have any friends on the site yet-- not sure how to do that. I'm thinking someone out there may be in a similar situation so if you're looking for a buddy, let me know!

I know how you feel! I started out in the beginning of June '08 at 156 and got down to 130 at the beginning of January. I had motivation before (went on a trip in January which consisted of being in a swimsuit the whole time) but unfortunately I've lost it and need to get back on track. I'm back up to about 134 with my main goal of 125. Before when I was on track, I was part of a small group that gave eachother motivation and had mini challenge type things. It helped a lot knowing that if I set a goal I had to stick with it because I had to let them know how I was doing. So, I'm also looking for a buddy again. I think we can def lose these last couple and tone up!

Those mini-challenges are a good idea!  I think I'm setting daily goals that are too lofty and it's getting discouraging... Any ideas for a first challenge?

Hey,

I'm new to the site aswell. Am currently about 135 lbs but would love to get down to about 125.  At start of Jan I was 150 or so - the craziest heavy I have ever been. Decided enough was enough. Didn't want to be in my 20's and overweight. THe weight flew off at the start but starting to worry it was just water weight.

If you guys have any motivation tips etc. I would be really interested. Trying to get 3 days of exercise in a week. That might not sound alot but for me its amazing. Never had to do a bit of exercise before to stay slim.

Tell me more about these mini-challenges :-)

Alright, Mini Challenges!! Ok, so heres a couple ideas of things we did in the last little group thing I was part of - we can always come up with other ideas too. We could do a weekly deficit goal, weekly minutes of exercise, weekly water intake(I was always really bad at recording this tho), daily calorie goals or certain amounts of fruits of vegtables. What do you guys think?

calisun - what kind of daily goals are you setting??

niamht - you sound alot like me - being up around 150 then realizing i needed to do something about it! I'm 21 and the idea of being somewhat overweight scared me.

Also, it really helped me by posting on here what I ate and how long I exercised. If I wanted to eat a lot of junk, the idea of others knowing how much junk I ate in one day sometimes stopped me from doing it. Same went for if I was going to go waaay over my calorie goal for the day. But I know it can be a lot to post what you eat everyday.

Anyways, scale said 132 for me again today! So that was exciting...but I need some serious motivation to get myself to exercise more. I can get myself to the gym, but staying there for longer than 20 minutes is what I'm having trouble with.

I am 20 years old, college junior in nursing school...high stress levels from that but i am totally in!!! Im 122 lbs right now..on a good day lol. (123 on a bad!) i'd like to be 115 but im more looking to tone up and be healthy!!!!

totally looking for a buddy most deffinatly.

katalina- When I started counting calories, I went from 138-133 in 2 weeks with a noticeable change in my weight every day.  Then my weight went up, then back down a smidge, now I've been stuck at 135.  I keep getting on the scale every day hoping for it to go back down, but it's not moving at all.  I think the hope that it was going to change overnight was my lofty daily goal!  (Starting today I'm not weighing myself anymore!  At least, not for a while)

Good ideas for mini-goals.  I also would like to throw out there that if anyone accomplishes any type of feat this week, brag about it!  When I hear about other people resisting temptation or rocking at the gym, I get motivated to do the same!

So I think my mini goal is to be able to stay running on the treadmill for a full 45 minutes in the next week.  I can do it from time to time, but around the 30-40 minute mark I tend to get overwhelmed and walk.  I'm really going to try and push it!

Finally, does anyone have any good toning exercises for the butt and/or inner thigh region?  That's really my problem area and I'm terrible about doing strength training exercises so I need a push to do that....

Well yesterday I ate a lot for breakfast and I thought maybe I'd just have a small lunch and skip the gym. (I really did not want to go at all) BUT somehow I got myself up and going and stayed for an hour! It was a really good workout too so I didn't feel too bad about the 2 drinks I had at the bar after work last night. Now I just need to get myself to go to the gym...like right now before work.

calisun- I weigh myself everytime I go to the gym, so atleast every other day, and I'm always disappointed when it doesn't go down too. Just stay on track and you'll see the changes! Do you know about how many calories a day you eat?

Thats a good mini-goal...this weekend I have a family get together at a hotel all weekend and my grandma is ALWAYS trying to shove food down my throat, so my goal for this weekend is to not go over maintanance calories..wish me luck.

Hmmm toning exercises. I think that the exercise part of this site has some good ideas, you should check them out and see what they do.

Yesterday I was very bad - had a cereal bar for breakfast. Home  made veg soup for lunch (so thats all veg not bad) but had brown bread with it. Then I had a skinless breast of chicken with rice and peppers / onions. THEN I had 2 mini pitta bread with 2 eggs and THEN 2 low fat biscuits. And had to skip the exercise all week as I ws just too busy.

Luckily the scales aren'tmoving upwards but they aren't moving downwards either. Still stuck at 135.

So this weekend I need to focus on getting some serious exercise in. Gonna try and do an hour tonight. Get up early in the mornign and go to hot yoga. Maybe a run in the afternoon and then dancing all night Saturday night (that has to count for something right?) Sunday will be a day of rest - no point pretending otherwise.  By this day next week if I could only lose 2 pounds I would be happy.

Calisun - let me know if the scales start changing... it'll give me hope :-)

I'm good with the water intake. I can drink 2 litres of water a day no problem (3 on days of hot yoga) but if I don't start stright away in the morning and keep sipping away all day at work it dosen't happen. Actually this week I haven't been so good - perhaps this is a factor in not losing weight.

ANyways, let me know how ye are getting on. Best of luck for the weekend.

Wow, I ate a lot this weekend. haha Now time to hit the gym. Luckily I found some motivation! My friend and I are going to visit her brother in California over spring break so I'm going to be on my best eating behavior for the next 4 weeks. Hope the rest of you are keeping up the good work!

ughhhh yeah this weekend has been a total bust for me!  I've had an endless supply of chocolate and brownies, plus I've made some bad decisions by way of pizza, beer, and fried food.  I've definitely eaten wayyy too many calories.  I just ate about a cup of M&Ms and now I feel sick.  I think I just over did it because I was so good at the end of the week--  I felt great because I did really well at the gym, I bought a strength training/toning dvd (haven't tried it yet tho... I'll let you know how it turns out!), and I think I found the right amount of calories that I should be eating.  Good eating and working my butt off at the gym starts again tomorrow...

Katalina- I'm sure we can both recover from this weekend!  A spring break trip is such a great motivator-- just find a binkini you like and keep trying it on to keep up the motivation!

Niamht- it sounds like your binge on 2/12 wasn't too bad... at least it was all pretty healthy!  Maybe getting a bit of exercise this week will make you feel better!  Endorphins are great :)

So i went to a spin class for the first time today and got my butt kicked! I hope I can walk tomorrow. I've been doing good the past two days, I just hope I don't completely ruin everything this weekend! I've been drinking too much...then eating crap. Anyways, I'm going to try this aerobic swim class tomorrow..that should be interesting and hopefully a good workout!

I think  I might try on one of my new swimsuits tomorrow for a little more motivation. I got back from Honduras about 4 weeks ago and I'm up 4 pounds! Not good at all! Its so disappointing that i tried so hard and then gained some of it back.

Calisun- How's the new dvd?

haha I stillll haven't tried the new DVD... I think that'll be this Sunday's activity instead of going to the gym.  I'm kind of thinking I might have wasted my money because I feel silly jumping around in front of the TV.... maybe that'll change?

So last weekend started a week of crazy cravings for me... I decided it might just be best to give in because I felt like I was just hungry and miserable all the time, so I just made sure my burn meter and food meter were about the same... and I loved it.  I ran 5 miles at the gym every day this week, plus a half hour on the elliptical, so I definitely feel like I deserve the weekend off even though I ate like a pig.  That, and I feel like the cravings are done and all I really want now is veggies.  I'm going to try and drop my cals back down this week so hopefully then I'll see some improvement before next Fri.

I think my decisions this week were definitely for the best.  I feel like it prevented some serious bingeing.  I'm sure the gain wasn't too bad, and now I'm more motivated to be extra healthy next week.  So goal for this week: drop the calories back down and get better nutrition grades for the week!

Katalina- how much are you trying to lose before spring break?  Are you concentrating more on the actual weight loss or just some toning?

Niamht- where'd ya go?  I hope you're keeping up with your working-out goals!!
