I don't think I was ready to come back here. No offence to anyone, but this place is really triggering. I started browsing some of the posts and got slapped in the face with ED thoughts. I knew it might happen, but I was still wasn't expecting it to be so bad.

The season seems to bring anxiety out, unfortunately. But if it's triggering (which, I'm sad to admit, it is) then do just stay clear of the boards. x: Though, for the most part, The Lounge is a not-so-offensive forum when it comes to triggers.

I know what you mean. Many threads posted and posts by many girls in this site are extremely triggering. Im still in recovery and Ive contemplated the idea of leaving this site for a while to let my mind fully heal. Ive been doing great though, I feel like Im finaly thinking straight again and ED thoughts are fading away (they are still there which hold me back from being normal again) but soon enough it will all end...hopefully.

If its too triggering for you I suggest you dont read those posts....skip any posts that may sound triggering, and read ones that you know will help you keep on.

I stay away from any post with a title that I know will be triggering for my ED....I dont even bother reading it, unless its something I really want to be a help in, and something that I can control without feeling triggered. Maybe you should do the same.

take care!

it might be hard to do, but as the otehr suggested, just stay away from the posts.  you might see them, but don't open them.  there are lots of fun posts.  i like the recipe forum a lot myself.  gives you lots of good ideas.

It would be nice if there was a separate ED forum. It seems like a majority of the posts in this forum are about some form of disordered eating/recovery now.

Pickleberry: It's usually not that bad. But, ah, the season seems to be rooting out a lot of anxieties, as I said.

true and the fact that now a days, more and more girls are falling into the same media trap that skinny = beautiful, and if you aren't skinny, you're not worthy. Pfft.

bunch of BS that's what it is.

I wish we were back to the old days....my mom never had an issue with being skinny or any women I know from back then...yes this disease has a long history, but now a days it just seems like more and more girls get themselves into it.

anyway as said...just refrain from reading them..you're better off focusing on your own life and your own problems rather than reading other's.

take care.

In past times, a larger and fuller figure was a sign of wealth, and an ability to better birth children. In some cultures in the world, even today, a rounder curvier shape is praised and desired. And as said, yes, anorexia nervosa has been around for years, but it is so much more a trend (not necessarily a fad, just so painfully common) now. I do wish we could go back to a time when the majority of people just loved themselves! x[

This board is triggering, as are several on the "Young Calorie Counters" forum. I try to stick to the Weight Gain forum - at least there I know I'll be supported by like-mined gainers instead of whining teenagers and starvation posts. Undecided

I agree...This site can be VERY triggering. Especially if you are just recovering and are not in the mindset to be able to handle triggers. Think about it one of the main things of an ED is obsession with food, calories and exercise all things this site's main emphasis is about.

Your best bet would probably be to stay away from the site to be completely honest. I don't think I would have been able to maintain myself had I been on here when I was first recovering especially if I had seen most of the posts some of the people post on here.

If you do wish to stay I highly suggest that you stay clear of all of the forums except for THE LOUNGE, WEIGHT GAIN and GAMES AND CHALLENGES. These are the least likely forums to be triggering. You can get some great advice through the weight gain forum to keep you on track where people aren't starving themselves and are trying to do the opposite and try to get into a healthy state of mind. You'll also be in great company of others trying to succeed at the same point you are at. Good luck and please take care of yourself.

and most importantly: congrats on your recovery process.  i wish you luck throughout and lots of success!!

Okay, I've come to a conclusion. I'm only going to come here to post and only when that's appropirate. So basically so health questions that wouldn't fit in any other forum. Thanks everyone. :D

I only read the weight gain forum, recipes and foods, and sometimes health and support. I have never opened up weight loss or young calorie counters and don't plan to because that's not the info i'm interested in anyways.

If you're trying to recover, I"d really recommend getting on board with the weight gainers, they're all really supportive! :)

Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?

In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
