Women interested in clean eating for fat loss--

Quote  |  Reply

ok, so I know i know i know- i post about the benefits of clean eating & how I do it daily & my incredible outcomes with great fat and muscle maintenance-

i guess i have posted enough to get quite a zillion emails on it that at this point I can't possibly answer them all!-- and there are other posts out there where people still have questions I really want to answer!

i feel bad- and I have spoken to melkor about this-- if we have a good thread w/valuable info, he'd post it in the fitness forum guide-- which i like-- if we can keep the topic on hand & NOT knock each other's ideas & interpretations - but it's ok to ask for clarification!

i don't want to seem pretentious at all- i seriously don't-- but as a woman, one who lifts, does cardio endurance, and eats squeaky clean (following the basic principles & tweaking to my body's insulin responses) I've had results that are astounding from Sept 07 to now-- I have revolutionized my body- and I had the greatest impact on my body fat loss & muscle gains thru EATING clean & lifting correctly!

I would be more than happy to start a new thread to share info on how I've done it-- but more importantly, to share others experiences & outcomes as well- bc there are plenty of men & women on here who've done as well & better than I!

i think i'm intimidated to start a thread "eating clean w/iamme for fat loss" or "getting buff w/iamme- how to lift better than just a girl" or something like that-

i know EVERYONE has their success stories- and I am just one-- but I am very excited & happy to share what I do & hear what others do in the realms of clean eating & weight training & cardio wise to increase their feminine mystique- in whatever size, shape or form that lies in, as long as it's healthy--

so, yay or nay? and what do we call it? remember- the thread will be an informational/educational thread to be used for reference- no bashing, etc--

comments appreciated bc I really want to respond to everyone-- and other's say things better & in less words than i do! I would appreciate the help & input!

Iamme, I think this is a great idea!  I was thinking the same thing but since I am new to the board and clean eating, I didn't feel qualified to create a post.  Personally, I trust your judgement and think you should go ahead and do it!

This is such a good idea. Im trying to clean up my diet right now. It would be so awesome to have a thred dedicated to eating clean and lifting right. I love it!!!!!

"eating clean w/iamme for fat loss" <---- I like this one!!

I say it's an AWESOME idea...I'm making steps to eat clean and develop a strong and healthy body.  So I say you need to ROCK IT iamme Laughing!

YES, YES AND YES!

I do think you have a lot to offer and I'd personally read it. I think you'd be surprised at how many others will become interested along the way. Your before and after pics speak well for you. Who wouldn't want that?

So let us inside your head and give us all you got.

Thanks,

Jodi

absolutely!

eating clean is the cornerstone of fitness imho, so sure. sounds good to me. why only women though? just for the fun of it or does anyone feel we (as women) are predisposed to eating an un-clean diet?

even the fit(ish) and thin women i know eat without thought even though they naturally eat very little - which sort of supports the 'calorie is a calorie' club, to which i don't belong.

it's more bank for your buck! getting every ounce of energy you can out of each calorie you consume makes sense and is easy once you understand how to eat with the economy of your body~ so yes, please do share opinions and techniques and especially plain observations on eating clean!

but then, this is coming from the girl who passed on homemade soup for a bag of chips at lunch in a moment of sheer anarchy :)

You know what I wish I could have?!?! A list of clean food, so I can build my diet around it.

When you say "clean eating" do you mean whole foods?  Or sugar free?  Fat free?

My idea of clean eating is simply eating food the way nature intended it:  If I can't identify where a food came from, I'm not eating it (with the exception of the spaghetti tree *lol*).

Could you be a little more specific on the details of "clean"?

i would love some information on eating clean. I am going home from college soon and I want to stop the processed foods eating. I really dont know much about eating clean but I want to try to do it.  Let me know when you start the thread!Smile

oui.  hook it up.

I would love to hear more info from you so def do it!

i second what everyone has said here. would def be interested.

I'm interested in learning too.  Eating well is my biggest struggle and I know I have a lot to learn.

I'd love to hear what you say on the matter your transformation over the last few months has been amazing a real insperation to us all, seeing your pickys really made me think if she can do it so can i.

hey spooky! YES, my thoughts & i did mention that we SHOULD include input from men- and I think we can ALL benefit from EVERYONE'S OPINION ON CLEAN EATING!

I think clean eating is a topic in & of its self where men & women's info apply!

BUT, I do feel, women have different issues when it comes down to healthy fat loss, the scale, and muscle development & retention in relation to TTOM (cravings),  bloating, sodium,& overall body composition BUT that's just IMHO!

maybe we seriously need two threads- one on women's fitness/lifting w/clean eating & just clean eating-- because I do adjust around my cycle how I work out & eat!

OK ladies--   "Let's do this!" -- i am psyched & happy that everyone is interested!)

feel free to still pipe in on anything you want included-- so far here's what I get to do in the intro-

  • What is clean eating - basics & interpretations for fat loss/mass keep
  • Protein & Complex Carbs - cornerstones of clean eating
  • Eating Schedules - importance of insulin consistency (amethyst- help!)
  • Food Lists for clean eating - what foods you CAN eat (a lot!)
  • How to tailor foods/schedules to your fat & mass goals
  • Clean eating & fitness - how to customize

Keep in mind, many of us eat "clean" daily- so the open to interpretation is big on what is considered truly eating clean- THERE IS NO ONE WAY to CLEAN EAT THAT'S AN ABSOLUTE! There are principles to follow!

this will be info sharing & ideas-- and of course, input is welcome, bashing is not!

please post any additional info to include in the initial info post-- and we'll go from there!

This is EXACTLY the type of thread I have been looking for !  I can't wait to get it started :)  Thank you Jamme.

I am now at my goal weight (within 2 pounds or so) and this is thanks to a bit of recent running I think shocked the last few pounds off.  I eat as clean as possible with lots of protein/veggies/fuit and complex carbs(early in day).  I lift and would like more info on both lifting "better than a girl" lol and eating schedules.

Female - 36yrs old -  height 5'8.5 - weight 130 - bf% (although only from a scale so not very accurate) 19.1%.  Goal is to remain same weight and lower that percentage.

iamme thanks for offering to put this thread together. I'd add to your list:

  • Deviations from clean eating: both in terms of how to handle restaurant outings, and what to expect when you do have that pizza at 9pm.

I would be very interested in the thread.  I have seriously considered PMing you after reading some of your comments about Insulin Resistance.  I would really like to learn more from a source that is not selling something.

Looking forward to reading.

I am totally in on this one too!  I'm a huge fan, iamme, and have read several of your other posts on eating clean and lifting heavy.  I am currently trying to lose fat, but once I've cut it down I want to start building some good muscle so any and all advice is welcome!  I'm particularly interested in the interaction between eating and exercise (your last bullet on the intro).

Great idea!!
