Most definitely get a fitting at Nordstrom!   I saw a segment on Oprah about it and went there for that reason.  I thought I was a 38D and it turns out I am a 32DDD.  I was so wrong!  It really separated them like what you want to achieve and kept them up where they were supposed to be.  The prices were not too overwhelming...about the same as Victoria's Secret where I was shopping before.
Oh they also have underwire sports bras too!
yeah me+underwire=bff  lol i need to go get a fitting really bad, god knows what size i am.

I'm a 34DD, but I tend to use a 36D sports bra and it works good for me.

I was told if you cannot find one in your size to go a cup size lower but a band size higher.
I am a 36DD, so I hear ya!!

I have a two-strategy approach...

First, Nike makes some GOOD sports bras.   They hold everything in place so well that I often need dh's help to take it off later!!  NOT one to wear on the nights I go from spin to swimnastics, because I can't change in the locker room without him, LOL.

Other approach: wear TWO bras, or a sports bra and a snug sports tank with a biult in shelf bra.  When I'm doing aerobics or step of jogging, I find I MUST wear two, or I get whiplash!! *blush*

Hope this helps!!

I have to wear two also.  I do the sport bra and then a snug sports tank over it.  Sometimes I'll wear an underwear bikini top and then the sports tank.  Either way one doesn't cut it.  I'm movning towards BREAT REDUCTION myself!  I'm tired of my kids asking me to "chase me mommy, chase me"!  And I CAN'T unless I go put two tops on!!!!!  LOL!    Good Luck!

I wear 2 bras also.  I wear a normal underwire bra with a tight fitting sports bra ontop.  LOL it makes it like a solid mass that doesn't move much, its great!!  I am a 38H.
Absolutely go to Nordstroms!  The investment in a good fitting bra is essential.  They had multiple sports bras to choose from in my size (36G).  So I am sure they can help you too, just ask since a lot of their bras are not on display.  Another option is to wear a tight fitting tank over a sports bra.

Check Title IX sportswear.  I bought one from them several years ago that is guaranteed to be the most powerful bra around (they provide a strength ratings key)  As for the "uniboob", there is a little bit of that going on, but when your 40+" and in the DD to DDD realm, I'm not sure your going to get serious support and lift and separation. The one I have provides fantastic support.

I thought I was the only one having to wear two bras!

The two bra approach worked better than the sports bra option for me. I wear one with good strap support and one with good cup support and Bob's your uncle!

I get mine at Marks & Spencers!

ONly Joking...but its the place to go in the UK (allegedly)  Embarassed

I have found that the only place to buy sports bras (as a 36G) is online. Most of the brands mentioned above at most go to double or triple D. I found nordstoms to have a better selection than most stores, but still not anything for me. I highly recommend either figleaves.com or barenecessities.com. It really is tough though, even at my smallest (120 pounds) I was still a DD. I think a reduction is in my future once I get some of this weight off. Figleaves also has good bathingsuit tops in those sizes :)
