women only question (sorry guys!)

Quote  |  Reply

OK so what do you gals do for water weight gain before and during your period? I drink at least 8-10 glasses of water everyday and was wondering if I should cut back for the week I am "blessed" ha ha or should I drink more? or should I keep it the same and deal with the water weight, as I have been doing? I am 33 if that makes any difference.

any thoughts ladies?

Thanks!

Drink more. I know it sounds counter productive, but when I am retaining water I drink a little extra to flush it out, and it usually only lasts a day. Also cut way back on your salt intake at that time, that's what is holding all that water in your body.

agree- drink more.

someone posted a metaphor for why more water helps - first you have too much sodium, and picture it as building salt walls around the cells that hold the water in.. then you drink more water, it flushes the salt walls away and lets the water out.

Thank you for asking this question!  I have my TOTM next week so this is nice to know.

Thanks! I have been watching my salt intake very close so I hope to see/feel the difference next week.

Thanks again!

I drink more water and replace my morning oj with grapefruit juice.  Its a natural diuretic.  Since I started doing this I only gain about 1.5lbs during this time.  It used to be 5-7lbs.

thanks. I eat a fresh grapefruit 1/2 every morning! I love them soooo much too, so I definitely wont stop doing that!

Drink MORE!!!  Your body needs water to get rid of water.  I drink a gallon or so a day.
