WOMEN OVER 40 WEEKLY CHALLENGE
Ok, ladies from the women over 40's posting group, here's where we'll start. Everybody put your starting weight, how much water you drink on average per day, and how many minutes and or days per week you exercise and what that exercise is.
ADDED SECTION BELOW:
Then starting Tuesday June 26, post your weight (if you weigh daily, if not just state what day you weigh yourself), how much water you drank for Monday....and your minutes of exercise. BUT>>>>> keep track of it too...b/c on Monday I want you to also post a total for the week. The daily posts will tell the rest of us how much harder we have to work to beat each other, which will help motivate us!!!

On Monday:
I drank only 30 oz of water--need to triple that.
I did one hour of Hatha Yoga.
(I will drive myself completely insane if I weigh every single day--scale junkie--so, I am going to weigh only every 3-4 days.)

Thanks for the link for the free pedometer. I am going to check it out. I did order one from Amazon so that I would have it before I leave on Friday.
Stats for Monday:
160 (dammit)
80 oz water
1 hr Pilates
& clean eating for the day.
My weigh in date is every Saturday & I work hard not to sneak a peak thru the week.

Weight: back up to 167 after two weeks of laxidasical (I KNOW I spelled that wrong! LOL!) attention paid to eating right and exercise
Avg. H20 intake: 70 oz per day (usually more, I have a 33.8 fl oz bottle I fill up at least twice per day and then whatever else I end up drinking.)
Exercise: MINIMUM 1/2 hr. per day @ 3.0mph, 5 days per week. I usually aim for much more (like 1.5 hrs.)

Five whole pounds in 6 days......................WOW!!! (i'm a teeny bit jealous - LOL) Wow that's great though seriously. Hey.....how many calories do you normally eat a day and how far do you walk in that 30 minutes? I'm into the walking, but I think my "brisk" walking is probably slower than most everyone elses.
I worked out yesterday and did 2 workouts instead of just one like a dummy.....since I just started working out recently, 45+ minutes of Pilates and abdominal toning exercises were too much. Plus like a super dummy I thought......oh even though I know I have to be careful with my neck (car accident a few years back messed my neck up pretty badly), I'll be ok. Sooooo part of why I want to lose weight is too feel better, even younger maybe? I feel like I'm 80 something instead of 50 something today.
Totally blew it today, not too many calories, but I drank (sugar free) ice tea and a couple of diet soft drinks today. Told myself I was babying myself, but now I feel quite a bit of the guilties for not getting in my water........which is tough for me, a water lover I am not!!!
Y'all feel free to lecture me!!! ;)

Hi my name is Beth and I have been using cc just over a week. I am 48 and my starting weight was 240. I have lost 5lbs so far and i have 82 to go.I am really motivated. Luckily I haven't got any big medical issues yet but my doctor warned me that if I didn't start doing something I was definately headed for trouble. A friend of mine and I walk together at least twice a week while our kids are at dog club and I have been push mowing the yard instead of using the riding mower (I feel like I am acomplishing two things at once). We have a huge yard so I try to do around 30 minutes each time I go out. The yard is never completely done but the exercise is great. If I go to my mom and dads house I try to walk there. It is a mile from their house to ours. I also cleaned all of the stuff off of my exercise trampoline and have started to use it again.
Can't really tell you what my water intake is because I have always been water drinker and consume alot of it during the day.
My biggest issue was choosing better foods and not munching just for something to do. I have found that by having to put everything in the food log I rerally think about do i want to have to report this or not. Yesterday I didn't eat enough calories according to my bmi but I wasn't hungry.
Good luck to everyone and count me in.

Hi Gang! Bonna, I am a little confused. Do we check in weekly with the stats for the day or the average for the week that's just gone by? (by the way, I don't really officially "count" until August but it's really nice to be welcome, thanks) I don't think I gave my info correctly for Monday or did I? I'm probably going to bomb out for a week starting Friday because of house guests (I'm not going to be able to use my treadmill but I'll put a pedometer on when we go out walking). Thanks to this challenge I've been pushing myself extra since Tuesday. I've got so much anxiety about a week "off" but will try to eat well, at the very least. Thank you! Nancy
Bonna - I'm with Nancy...confused! Are we suppose to report daily on our exercise and water intake? Makes sense if we are, keeps us accountable each day.
Monday - 50 oz water; 45 min heavy yardwork
Tuesday - 46 oz water; 1.5 hour mowing
It's raining here today so I feel a lazy day coming on! EEeek!

I did not do so well yesterday. My water intake was only 40 ounces and my excerise was coaching Midget softball. That's it!
Didn't post yesterday as I was sick of counting, measuring, and keeping track of everything in general. I rode my bicycle a total of 2 hours, 20 minutes (not many hills around here). I drank about 64 oz. of water. It sure goes down easier after I've been out in the hot sun.
Gemini, I used to live in Australia, there we reckon up 500 mls. to be equal to 1 cup, or 8 oz. but really it is a little bit more than 8 oz. A litre is about a quart.

Hey everybody,
Tuesday:
Water intake: 47 oz.--better, (now I just need to double that!)
Exercise: 1 hr. on the recumbent stationary bike, (burns only half the calories as the eliptical trainer, but I'm worried about my back.)
Also, Gemini & LauraAnn...My water bottle says 500 ml is about 18 oz of water, 225 ml = about 8 oz. ???

That is right, sorry, I was thinking of the measuring cup. It is 500 ml = about 16 oz, or two cups. Thanks for that Donna.
Bonna - the 5 lbs in 6 days was "THE FIRST WEEK" water loss so don't get too envious. If every week could be so inspiring I wouldn't need you guys! LOL That rate will drop big time this week! I try to keep my calorie intake between 1100 and 1300 daily. 2.5 miles is the 30 minute distance. Rowing helps as it burns around 500 calories an hour.
Here goes for Tuesday's stats:
80 oz water intake
100 standing leg lifts (50 each leg) in the bathroom while brushing teeth with 2 year old trying to bust into bathroom with me.
weigh in & measurements on Saturdays week started at 160
I'm already liking the Challenge b/c it does make me push for some form of exercise every day. Although I had to resort to leg lifts in my bathroom at 10:00 at night (Texas Time) I did at least do "somethnig" as opposed to "nothing" which has been my usual.
I like reporting in daily because it takes it back to accountability. If I report daily then I'm more likely to push for exercise. If I get to wait a day or 2 I'll cheat. I know me. :]

oh and Bonna - no preachin' to you from me. I know you'll do better today. Keep posting. Bigg Huggz!
Nancy & Tami........post daily. I think it's also fine to say........like......Tuesday.......I blew it and I think my calories were ok, but I didn't drink more than about 20 oz. of water, and I was so sore that my only exercise was getting out of the chair when necessary. (by the way there is my Tuesday report, ladies)
