WOMEN OVER 40 WEEKLY CHALLENGE

Quote  |  Reply
Ok, ladies from the women over 40's posting group, here's where we'll start. Everybody put your starting weight, how much water you drink on average per day, and how many minutes and or days per week you exercise and what that exercise is.

ADDED SECTION BELOW:

Then starting Tuesday June 26, post your weight (if you weigh daily, if not just state what day you weigh yourself), how much water you drank for Monday....and your minutes of exercise. BUT>>>>> keep track of it too...b/c on Monday I want you to also post a total for the week. The daily posts will tell the rest of us how much harder we have to work to beat each other, which will help motivate us!!!

Hi, I've been lurking for a while and would now like to join up.  I'm waaaay over 40 (I'm 56) and I need to lose 75 more pounds.

Bonna, I hope you're now doing better after the root canal.  You're probably in Florida now and experiencing one of our little tropical systems.  I hope the rain keeps coming north because we really need it here!

mbeek, I, too, am doing WW points and counting the calories just to be sure I don't go overboard.  I'm also counting protein and fat grams...not that it's done me much good since I've been stuck at 210# for 3 weeks now.  I was visiting family last week and ate out a few times so I'm worried the "extra" just hasn't shown up yet!.  I'm concerned that when I eat the 35 "WW bonus" points that I go over my "calorie count" target but I am not adding back exercise calories in hopes that balances it all out.  Best of luck at this week's weigh in.

JJ :-)

I try not to use my flex points but I do use my activity points. I average 4 activity points per day.

I'm happy to participate.  I'm 48 and a starting weight was 182.

I'll let you know my exercise and water consumption in a week.  Have a happy one!

I've been lurking for a while too.  I'm 41 years old and 5'8" tall.  My starting weight in July was 204.  As of today, I'm down to 183!  My goal is to lose another 35-40 lbs., which will place me back in the "normal" weight range for my age and height.

I'm balancing my weightloss with program with fitness (gym, cycling, hiking) 4 to 5 times per week which is already having positive impacts on my blood pressure and cholesterol levels.  I'm not monitoring my water intake specifically, but I do have a full glass nearby all day while I'm working and drink another pint when I'm at the gym.  My goals

I am so bad at the water thing, but I just bought a big case of deer park, so I will give it a try.
Weight today - 202Exercise - too busy!  I had to travel for work, then grocery shop, make dinner, dishes, laundry and study.  Taking a break from studying right now because my brain is flagging from all the academic posturing language it has had to consume.  God forbid I wanted to actually learn something.  Oh did I mention the dog came over and threw up at my feet?  What a day!!!

Napoli, It's all in the perspective.

Five hours ago I received a phone call from the police that my fiance's car was smoking.  Ten minutes later, I arrived on the scene to find him safe, but the car entirely engulfed in flames.  Thankfully no other vehicles were involved, no one else was hurt.

He is safe.  I am safe.  We are both home and safe.

The dogs wagged their tails when we got home.

Some days calories just don't count.

OK.  I'm in on this thread too.  Thanks Napoli for indirectly referring me to it.  I just sarcastically said on another thread that maybe I'm not currenly losing because I'm not exercising or drinking enough water and look what I find on this thread: drink water and exercise.

So I'm down 20 total but only lost 2 of those in September and no change for this week with a Friday weigh-in.  I'm going to revamp my diet spreadsheet to up my protein to 40% with carbs and fat at 30%.  For now I'll remove the fiber goal and add in an h20 goal.  Since I've not even come close to walking 300 min/week, I think I'll change that to 180 and see if I can get into a routine.

Also, thanks Bonna for the link for the free pedometer (early in the thread).  I just did the survey.  :)

It's Tuesday again.  After a harrowing weekend of flaming car stress, one too many glasses of wine, and no counting calories, I stepped on the scale again to discover I'm almost where I left off after last week:  182.5 lbs.  I'm down a total of 21.5 lbs with another 22 to go before I hit my target zone.  My fiancee and I are back to our usual work outs and health conscious meals this week.  I'm really looking forward to breaking 180 this week.

MaryAnn

Hi Maryann, that's such a coinkydink about the car-in-flames story - my partner had the same thing happen to his work truck last week.  Luckily he had a bottle of the water in the car with him.  It's just occurred to me that since then he's been bringing large bottles of water home with him every day... just in case?  The way things seem to happen to us though, it's all in a day's work!  Nancy

PS - I am doing lousy in my eating but at least I am walking.  Water has been forsaken for massive mugs of tea, a real teeth-stainer!

Maryann, I'm glad you put in those good words about getting back to it. I'm having a 'rough' week diet wise and need some motivation (thus I'm looking here!) to get back on track myself.

I've ended up eating out a number of times this week that I wasn't planning for and just didn't handle it well at all. It's ironic because I am just beginning to see/feel some results from months of calorie counting. It's 4 o'clock in the afternoon and I'm going to turn this day around! Just because I had a HUGE piece of cake on top of a fairly heavy lunch doesn't mean dinner and the evening don't count. [that's my usual reasoning - "I've already screwed up the day so I might as well go crazy..."]

I will eat a healthy low cal dinner.  If I really keep the cals down this evening-- although I will still be over my goal-- I know I'll FEEL a lot better about myself.  THANK YOU!

160.0 today. Look out 150's - here I come!!! Will post more later!!

Love you ladies!!
you go Bonna, That,s what I,am shooting for 150's.  Maybe hiking in the mtns. will help. Take care everyone.
Hi gang, what's everyone doing for fitness this weekend?  My partner might back out of our plan to bike around the lake, and I've decided that if he backs out, I will do it alone, darn it.  One convincing factor to do this is that I went on a cookie binge last night, 3 AM.  I'm a sucker for cookies and milk, or tea, or coffee.  So many calories in such tiny innocuous morsels!  Nancy
Walking, walking, walking.

Hooray!!!!  I'm finally out of the 180s.  Must be the water and the exercise.  :)

178 this AM.  I checked it 3 times in disbelief!! -2 for me.

There's a fall craft festival in our little town this weekend so I'll burn up cals standing at my church's food booth most of the day. There will also be plenty of walking around town looking at the arts & crafts. Of course the danger is all the food!

EmbarassedConfession: Every year I indulge in a sausage sandwich smothered in peppers and onions. The sausage is freshly made by another church who's membership is mostly farmers. It's incredible! I just won't eat much except lettuce for the rest of the day...maybe I'll toss the bun too.

Well I had to do some work in downtown Knoxville today. Had thought I needed to be 1 block north, 1 block west of where I parked, and then after I would walk that I would have to go 2 blocks south, 2 blocks east to do the other thing and then 1 block north 1 block west back to the parking lot. I know that is confusing but bear with me. I had "memorized" the address (stupid thing for someone my age to do, eh? Well I ended up walking 7 blocks north, 2 blocks west. Took pictures of a building for work. Then walked 10 blocks south and 2 blocks east to go get my car title replaced so I can give the poor broken down piece of #%&@ away. Then went up 2 flights of stairs to get into the courthouse. Get in there, it says go downstairs to county clerk office. I did (was delighted I only had to go down) Got down there, and it was all empty and the sign said "We've moved upstairs"  Sooooooo I took the stairs back up. (yay for me, skipped the elevator). Then took care of that, down 2 flights of stairs and walked 2 blocks north, 1 block, ummm was it west or east to get back to the parking lot. I don't know how much I walked, but brrrrrrrrrrrr it was cold here this morning and I didn't have a jacket, so lemme tell ya ladies, I hustled!!!

The scales said 160.0 this morning when I got up, they are usually a bit less around 10 am. I'm going to check it out in a minute. Surely all that walking, got me at least .1 less. Crossing fingers and toes here.
159.8 this morning!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh how I love seeing that. Isn't it amazing how thrilling it is to see 159.8 and somehow that is so much more thrilling than 160.0!!!!!!!!!
159.2!!!!!!!!!
You Go Girl.  :)
Bonna is on a roll!

I don't know what's more appetizing than sausage made by someone you know.  It's getting to be sausage season where I live.  I wish I could cut pork out of my diet but it's just so good!  ...but it's like cannibalism, physiologically speaking.  And causes red blood cells to lose their color!

Do you all count calories, or just try to eat right?  I've been counting, to the best of my knowledge, but have really gone off the rails this last week.  After going off the sweets and bar appetizers, I've thrown myself back into the feeding frenzy.  But I'm nipping it in the bud as of today.  At least I've kept up my dog-walking, so the 3000 cals p/day haven't totally killed me.   ciao gang! Nancy
