WOMEN OVER 40 WEEKLY CHALLENGE

Quote  |  Reply
Ok, ladies from the women over 40's posting group, here's where we'll start. Everybody put your starting weight, how much water you drink on average per day, and how many minutes and or days per week you exercise and what that exercise is.

ADDED SECTION BELOW:

Then starting Tuesday June 26, post your weight (if you weigh daily, if not just state what day you weigh yourself), how much water you drank for Monday....and your minutes of exercise. BUT>>>>> keep track of it too...b/c on Monday I want you to also post a total for the week. The daily posts will tell the rest of us how much harder we have to work to beat each other, which will help motivate us!!!

Thursday........165.8, although I don't know how it went down, even that little bit. It's been a week.

I did drink 64oz. of the boring H2O.

No exercise but you will see when I post my stats for today that I got back on the proverbial horse, albeit C A R E F U L L Y!!!

Have a good weekend all........hey......how are we gonna handle 4th of July cookouts and such? I think I will take a diet holiday......what about y'all?

Bonna
Thanks, Too!  I'm trying.

Bonna - Good luck with the "diet holiday" for the 4th.  You really need to do it.  Life is more than one continuous diet and you deserve a mini break.  Enjoy the food!

We're not participating in any cookouts this year.  Hubby is still not able to swallow.  I'll miss the burgers and potato salad for sure.  Living out in the boonies is great - we'll sit in lawn chairs and watch all the fireworks everyone in a 5 miles radius is shooting off!
OK, for Friday:

H20: 104 ozs. ( My "12 oz." water cup is really 20 ozs. Who knew?)

Exercise:  65 minutes on the eliptical LifeTrainer. (I burned 720 calories.)

Well I haven't been able to get on-line for a few days do to some computer glitches. I don't track my water because I drink water all day long. I haven't lost any more weight (disappoint ment) but I am not giving up. I am working on keeping active and  I know that I have done alot better on my diet. I am actually wondering if maybe I am not eating enough. I am not hungery but I have totally cut out snacking and second servings. If I understand everything  I have been reading my body may think it is in starvation mode., Some one set me straight.. According to my personal info I should be consuming around 1700 calories in order to lose weight. I am probably getting some where between 14-1700 and then I have been getting more daily exercise burning approximately another 400 to 500 calories. Any suggestions would be great
Saturday

  • yard work - 60 minutes - 396 calories
  • 42 oz
For Saturday:

H20: 40 ozs.

Exercise:  Nothing, really, other than cheering at the Brigade-Crush game.

A note about yesterday's weight: This a.m., (Sunday), the same scale says I weigh 158.5--after my morning glass of water, (before the water, it said 157.5.)  It is conspiring against me, and I am going to start using the scale at the gym.
For Saturday:  80oz H2o:)

Exercise: yard work

Weekly Weigh in: 175.5

Happy 4th everyone!!!!     Debbie

Friday & Saturday

Yikes.  Not so good days.  Water intake: about 40 oz.

Exercise: Friday so more moving boxes and Saturday I was up and about most of the day, but not really exercising.

Today I am back to being serious (she says while eating her oatmeal)

Sunda

  • no exercise (day off)
  • 42 oz of H20
I've been away so I have a few days to post up. Didn't do very well on the water as my daughter was teasing me about having to pee all the time while we were driving.

Friday: Weight: Monday weigh day Water: 64 oz. Exercise: Bicycling 65 min, walking the dog 45 min.

Saturday: Weight: Monday weigh day Water: nothing just diet soda and coffee :( Exercise: Walking 90 min.

Sunday: Weight: Monday weigh day Water: 8 oz..... Exercise: Walking the dog 65 min.

Weighed in this morning and had lost 1/2 a pound for the week. Not too spectacular! Going to the store to stock up on my favourite water. I ran out of it last week!

LauraAnn
Sunday:

Water: 60 ozs.

Exercise: None.

Weigh day = Saturday
I too was somewhat out of pocket.

Thursday I got all of my water requirement & then some 80 + oz.

100 side leg lifts

On Friday I was in court all day (and the Judge won't allow water in the courtroom ... so I hid it...but didn't get my usual 80 + in.  My guesstimate would be about a shocking 40 oz.

Excercise:  We got a "not guilty" so the only exercise I got that day was jumping up & down when the jury rendered the verdict.  Then running around the courthouse to copy file and had to go to car to get $ for copy machine in law library & used the stairs so I guess I can count that as exercise for the day.

Saturday:  I really suck at this on the weekend!  I did get my water in 80 + on Saturday

Exercise: Walked around in baby store to get booster seat for my son and I guess chasing a child in a toy store "Toy R Us"  could be considered as exercise I suppose.  My son is now trying to watch for me to do the side and front leg lifts in the kitchen.  He just thinks it's too funny and laughs at me.  Out loud.

Sunday:  I did not do well on water at all.  I do no exercise at all.   Unless you count the water I got soaked with while running from the grocery store to the car that I purposesly parked far away so I could get the extra walk in the rain.

I must hate water on the weekends b/c I have such a hard time getting it in.  I've go to devise a plan to fix that.

Chow Pals!  Bigg Huggzzzzzzzzzzz!
Hey Donna:  Don't sweat the gain.  I did the EXACT same thing and gained 6 pounds before I finally got it going the other way again.  If you can see my weight chart it looks like my 2 yr old's drawing.  I am .5 away from being where I started when I joined.  So I hear your frustration.  It probably has something to do with the other thing we talked about in the 40 forum.  Just don't give up.  Heck, I did my measurements on Saturday and can you kindly tell me how the hell you toss pounds and gain inches?  I know my boobs didn't get any bigger so that aint that cause (dammit).  Anyway, I aint sweatin' it...I'm just a little backwards I suppose.

:]
Hey Jlo, I suck at the water on the weekends too. I suck at it when I have to be on the road for several hours, and after a nice 2 weeks of working at home, I'm back to being a road warrior....ughhhhh!  On a brighter note, I did my pilates on Saturday and the only thing that was sore on Sunday was my neck and shoulders, which I doubt had anything to do with anything other than I have a messed up neck. So now I need to step up the abdominals some more.

I gained some back over the weekend too. I gained like 4 pounds....according to science I would need 14,000 calories to gain 4 pounds.......I had a little extra but I know it was no where near that, maybe......maybe 2000 on Sat and Sun, tops. I just don't understand it.
I did not post but it was not good over the weekend.  I drank about two glasses of water and did not exercise.  I did get my 2 1/2 year granddaughter and we had fun.   For monday I drank about 32 oz.  of water and a five mile bike ride.
Bdmullaly - it is just water,,,, start drinking some more or have 3 beers, lol just joking... but it does dehydrate you quicker than anything I have ever seen.

Monday

  • 90 minutes weights/cardio/yardwork 500 calories
  • 72oz H20 - alright!
Monday stats:

Weigh in: 127.5

Water: 2.5 litres

Exercise: 70 minutes bike, 25 walking doggie

I really boosted the water yesterday after going to the store to stock up. Hope to keep it up all week. The only downside is having to pee almost all day long!

LauraAnn
Monday:

Thanks, Jlo, I think so too.

Water: 60 ozs. (I think I suck at the water thing all days of the week.)

Exercise: None, really; I walked about 1.5 miles.

This a.m., the scales said 158.  (I'm going with that...I need the mental boost. :)  )
Hey V:  I like the way you think :]  Trade off beer for water....problem is that's about what I did....well, on Friday night anyway..didn't drink much of anything the rest of the weekend.

Bonna:  Your fix for on the road water:

1.  Map out all potty stops...you're gonna need 'em.

2.  Take bottled water with you.  Line 'em up and have them ready to go.  Maybe take a small cooler with your "required" amount and anything over is gravy  (and another pit stop)

3.  Regarding neck & Pilates....if you have neck issues concentrate on being KIND TO YOUR NECK.  When ever it hurts or gets tired, rest it.  Do not overdo the neck area. Proper position (according to my instructor b/c I'm no expert by any means) of neck should be neutral and long.  (ears pulled away from shoulders) If you're in an upward position you should have chin tucked in and eyes should be staring at belly (not hard for me at all since it trys to pop right up there in my face...need to suck it in more) or if legs are up or incline you should be staring at your knee caps.  This really will help the neck but most important is to relax the neck if it starts to ache.  Listen to your body when you do Pilates and you will become stronger without injury.  That's why I love it.

Oops....almost forgot my stats for Monday:

Weight: 159.5 (butt naked) on my weigh day 1st thing Saturday - 165 fully clothed at the end of the day Monday before workout. (now you see why I don't weigh in everyday?  Drive me insane!)

Execercise: 1 hour Pilates (was P'd off about the scale so I put more effort into work out and refused to get back on scale after workout although the thought did cross my mind......told you I was a scale addict.

Water: Got my 80 oz (hey it was Monday)

Note for Bonna - at 40 + it's not a real good idea (for me anyway) to have water right before 1 hour Pilates class.  We had to do the "swim" on a Bosu (sp?) ball.  Full bladder & Bosu swim do not mix.  Thought I was gonna P my yoga pants before that one was done.

Thought for topic light & fun:  Most embarassing work out moment:

Here's mine:  Pilates is all about core strengthening.  Everything comes from the abs....everything...leg work, roll ups.....suffice it to say beans, fruit and Pilates roll up do not QUIETLY mix.  It wouldn't have been so bad except the instructor said "let's bark like a seal" - windy seal it was....my only reply was "Oh, no I didn't!"  Oh well, laughter works the abs too.

Okay.  So what was your most embarassing exercise moment?
