Women's Antiperspirants/Deodorants

Quote  |  Reply
Have any of you ladies found an effective deodorant/andtiperspirant?&nbs p;I don't know if it's an age thing, a gender thing or an exercise thing but I am finding it harder to stay dry (when I'm not exercising of course).

mitchum and arrid gel
MITCHUM for men.  I know it's weird but it smells good:)) and also I think it's a bit more effective than the one for girls, I might be wrong.

There is also a prescription topical solution called Drysol.  You can ask your dermatologist or physician to prescribe it.  It saved my life, after using it for 3 times I was dry for a month!! It doesn't work for everyone, but it sure worth a try.

Good luck!
I use an all natural deodorant from a company called Lush.  It is just wonderful and keeps me dry all day.  I prefer the one called Aromacreme and here is the link:

Mitchum's got my vote too.......:)
I also sweat just sitting at my desk (strangely I found that my sweating/smell problem got worse after I started working out regularly!), and I've tried every kind of anti-perspirant there is, until finally I did some scholarly research.  It turns out that anti-persps only work by blocking the sweat glands, not by stopping them, which means that eventually, if you are a sweater, the sweat will overrun the anti-persp and you'll be sweating just as much as you would without it, but with the added bonus of chemicals and aluminum mixed in.  This is true no matter what brand. Further, every single one of my white shirts would be ruined after one wearing because the chemicals in anti-persps stains fabric (this is where you get those nasty yellow armpit stains).

So I did two things: 1. accepted that I am going to sweat and there's nothing I can do about it; and 2. purchased a plain deodorant to hide the smell.  I go to the bathroom and pat myself down with a wet paper towel, sometimes I stick kleenex in my armpits, and I carry deodorant with me everywhere.  And a lot of the time, well, I just stink.  It's NOT fun.   But the perks are that my white clothes last a hell of  a lot longer, and I just don't stress as much about the whole situation.  I have gotten better at managing the smell so that it's under control almost all the time.

And my last point is: who would wear deodorant/anti-perspirants while they are working out?  I mean, the whole point is to get sweaty.  Also, do people really wear it at night?  I don't understand that.  The body sweats naturally during sleep, and it's a good opportunity to release toxins.
Thanks everyone!  You all gave some great suggestions and I sincerely appreciate it.  Nice to hear the funny things people do (the paper towel one and the one that tries to keep her arms up away from her body - been there, done that LOL!) Thanks again!

Somebody else mentioned it--drysol. I put it on about once or twice a month, at night. I have hyperhidrosis--excessive sweating, usually in the armpits, palms, feet, or any combination. I have it mostly in my armpits. With drysol, it's completely gone. I used to have huge circles (I'm talking like, 4-7 inches here) of sweat under my arms all the time. The condition can be responsible for social anxiety problems that develop in people that have it.

There are other treatments for it, too. Electrolysis and botox treatment are a couple.

The Drysol does have aluminum in it. Personally, I'd rather get cancer later in my life (I'd hope for at least after 60s) than suffer from the social anxiety associated with this condition.

I don't know if you have hyperhidrosis, as there's not enough information to tell. I'm a guy, but if you do have that condition, it's kind of irrelevant.
I use Keihl's Superbly Efficient Anti-Perspirant & Deodorant Cream. Haha it sounds all pretentious and crazy but it works AMAZINGLY well. 24 hours of dryness and zero smell, and it's unscented (I hate scented) and doesn't leave white marks either. I'm obsessed, I'm never going back to regular.
I'm another vote for the Secret Platinum (I like the clear gel)...for over 16 years, I was miserable because I was allergic to every deodorant I ever tried - my poor skin would turn screaming red, and dry to the point of cracking and...well, you can imagine.  The natural salts didn't help much, and also caused irritation.  So, I resigned myself to being stinky and gross.  I don't recall what prompted me to try the new Secret, other than optimism about a new possibility, but I've been using it for well over a year now with ABSOLUTELY NO problems, and it works well for me at the gym.  My back is all sweaty, but not my pits.  I also like the fact that it comes in scents like apple and vanilla, that don't scream, "get a whiff of  my deodorant!"
I have a niece who suffers from hyperhidrosis and her hands and feet literaly "drip" and always have since birth.  Its like people with pedal edema and their feet swell and drip.  She broke her arm a couple years ago and they had to change the cast every week because of her sweating.  I think they finally did do surgery to fix some of this.  Something about cutting a nerve or something somewhere.

Secret Platinum!!!  gets my 100% recommendation - it smells pretty -"powder fresh" scent is my favorite.  It really has been the one that works the best and I have tried the prescription ones as well.  "Secret" has nailed it.
