going from womens gym to co-ed
hi~
i am switching from a GoodLife for Women to a co-ed YMCA. it is less expensive and two of my friends go there.
sounds silly, but i am sort of uncomfortable working out in front of men and a mixed population. GoodLife attracts a particular sort of crowd in my town... and i suppose i got used to that.
girls; have you been in this position? is it un-nerving using a weight room with men? have men ever made you feel uncomfortable?
men; are you respectful to women in the gym? do you pretty much ignore others and do your thing while they do theirs?
just curious (terrified)
and thanks in advance ~
What time of the day do you usually go at? The gym that I'm planning on joining opens up at 8AM. That's when I'd go, probably the least amount of people there at that time. At least I would assume so anyway, lol, I don't necessarily want to get up early to go work out.
I'd be the same way though & I really can't shake that. I know around 5PM, thats usually when most people are there because it's after work. So yeah.
I think maybe girls don't use them because they're afraid they'll bulk up like guys? That's the only thing I can think of that would keep them from using them.
I have never done the women's gym thing, but the gyms I use are municipal public facilities. The crowd varies quite a bit. There are a few regulars (mostly men for some reason) that I occasionally chat with, as we do similar workouts - heavy on the cardio, light on the weights. Not to seriously objectify or stereotype anybody, but there are some hot guys in there too, who mostly come in to pump iron. I haven't noticed any blatant checking out of people, or hitting on. People come to work out, so that's what they do.
The gym at my university however...that's another story, lol.
