What is "women's oatmeal" and how does it differ from regular or "men's oatmeal"? What happens if a man eats it, does his genitals fall off? I'll make sure and steer clear if I see it at the grocery store. :O
Seriously though, I'm guessing it had added soy protein, as soy is generally regarded as being more beneficial to women. You may be able to duplicate the recipe at home with regular oatmeal and added ingredients.

I'm sure the "womens' oatmeal" was just an advertising gimmick, though I had it and liked it. It was "instant" but I can't remember what it's "claim to fame" was. My father ate it so it's ok. lol
The only reason I can think of that they discontinue items are because they aren't a "hit" -- just not in demand though WE may have loved them. Otherwise, there really is no reason for stopping production. What I do when something appears to be missing from the shelves is I either go to the Web site of who makes the product and/or I make a phone call to that particular company. Google the product if you don't know where to begin. They will tell you if it's been discontinued, what the possible "substitution" might be, OR where you can buy it (distribution may have changed).
Usually, when something is discontinued, all you can do is keep your eyes open and grab any "leftovers" and stock up. Also, check discount stores like Odd Lots and Big Lots, etc. This has happened to me MANY times. The only food item I can think of right now (that was discontinued) was something called "Thin Bits" which were like tiny, thin, crispy, chocolate graham snacks. I'm not even sure that was the name, but this was back in the 80s. Those things were great and not too garbagey.
Regarding your Edy's: that's really not THAT big of a deal. 20 more cal and 3 grams fat. The fat'll help it from digesting as quickly and, therefore, will keep you from reaching for more! :P

Remember those Snickers "Crunch" bars a few years ago? Whatever happened to those? I never see or hear of them anymore. I'm 19 now, so I'm not too fond of candy bars so much. But back in the day I looked forward to getting those every year for Halloween! Good memories. :)
Good memories with pink popcorn, too. hehe
