I honestly cannot wait.  This is going to be a FIELD DAY.
you  got that right
i'm confused?
I don't think I am your friend, too bad! I'm here anyways.
I'm your only friend, i'm not your only friend, but I'm a little glowing friend, but really, I'm not actually your friend, but I am.
firstly HK you are a jerk!  i had that darned song in my freaking mind all day yesterday.. got it out of my head.. now i think it's gonna be there again!

and secondly.. i'm confused too.. but that's kind of a permanent state for me lately.. :)
lol, HK and obs!!

obs, dodgeman is a fan of an "eat 600 calories a day" starvation diet. He's been proselytizing for the diet's author (a dentist who self-published a book that he is selling on the internet) here. I wonder if his dentist friend is paying him?

And oh, yeah, he doesn't like women.
Oooh, let me clarify that! He seems to have a problem with women having an opinion and questioning him. Doesn't like that, at all.
now i am a woman hater? geesh I have heard it all now
You don't have a clue, I love women
So long as they don't question your "wisdom," eh?
ahh.. thanks athena.. :)  i guess i shouldn't anounce that i'm a woman.. and i question jsut about anything.. especially diets of 600 cals! that's crazy!

anyway.. thanks for the tips!  :)
don't mind at all, but i don't like mean controlling women like you is all
I like mean controlling women, they get my blood racing ;)

muahhahahahahahaha
"controlling woman"  is a phrase used by misogynists.  It's a phrase used to demean any woman who has the temerity to behave in a manner other than that of a doormat.

Athene is not a "controlling woman". She's a smart, educated, sensible, confident woman who suggested you pony up some data for your assertions.  Can't handle that?  Too bad.

Back on topic.  Eating 600 calories a day is not generally conducive to long-term health. Discuss.

600 calories is not long term or permanent. I am not down to 600 myself, so i can't say anything about it. I may not ever get there. who knows. I have been running about 750 to 850, and i feel fine. I don't care what you say about athena, She doesn't seem anymore educated than anyone else on here. I don't see multiple nutrition degrees or doctorates behind her name, nor yours either. My education is in the medical field, although o don't prfess to be an expert in any field, including weight loss. I am just sharing what i am doing, and thats all.

But because you and other disagree, you take it upon yourself to bash me and others who are doing the same. i realise there are more of you than there are of me. and i may fail, but at least i will know. I have the courage to step outside of the box, which yes i know you do too( purple has is real cool) I would hire you .

which brings me back to what i have said all along, you can disagree all you want. but it is working ofr me and others. and i am losing on average 4-5 pounds a week which is twice as fast as you and i fell fine
Losing weight should only be part of your goal, the other part should be learning how to eat right. Learning how to balance fats, protein, and carbs. This 600 calorie a day diet may help you lose the weight, but you are not learning how to eat right. Once you start eating normally again, the pounds are just going to come back. It's best to just teach yourself basic nutrition and find out what the best amount of calories work for you and only lose 1 to 2 pounds a week. You are more likely to keep the weight off this way.
lol, brokentink! If I see any, I'll send 'em your way!

Hey, obs, what song is in your head now?

Wow, nyad, thanks! And right back atcha, you smart, educated, sensible, confident woman, you!

"Eating 600 calories a day is not generally conducive to long-term health. Discuss."

What's to discuss? It's true! :-)

dodgeman, what you are doing is not healthful, and you DON'T need to believe me -- go read up on ultra-low-calorie diets for yourself. Of course not eating enough to maintain normal bodily functions is working for you -- starvation does, indeed, lead to weight loss. No one here has said otherwise. But you are ignoring the risks you are taking by not consuming enough calories. However much you might try to reframe the discussion, HEALTH is the issue, not weight loss.

Eating 600, or even 900, calories a day is not generally conducive to long-term health. You can claim otherwise if you'd like, but that doesn't change facts, just as you can believe the earth is flat if you'd like; it's not, regardless of what you believe.
Dawn you are very sweet. I respect your opinion, because you are a very respectable lady. You know how to disagree, without being mean and ugly about it. Thats cool with me. I do understand  about changing my lifestyle. I am a Finance Mgr, and all i did was sit behind a desk all day. I would eat all the trash Mcdonalds and othe fast foods had to serve. I commitment to this diet is to not only lose weight rapidly, but to maintain it as well. This calorie counter has educated me more than anything. Although i am not consuming very many calories right now, I am eating very good.
I haven't read very many comments people have made to you, but from what I have seen the people here are very caring. I think it's just "tough" love sometimes. I have seen harsh comments but I really think they are just trying to get through to some people. The people here just hate seeing someone causing damage to their body.

I really do wish you luck on your diet.:) Just please take care of yourself. You may not notice the damage you are doing today, but later on you might. Good luck hon!
