wondering about this amazing ingredient...
So I am vegetarian, and I eat salads for lunch every single day (no exaggeration). and I LOVE my avocado! Where i work, they have a section at the cafetaria called "shaker salad" and they have all different options you can add for a really cheap price. If you ask for avocado they put in a 1/2 avocado.
There are a lot of calories in it, but is avocado REALLY bad for you? If I am trying to lose weight, should I cut them out of my diet? (I usually eat them about 3 times a week)
They're super fatty, but they're not bad for you at all! I actually have an avocado sitting in my fridge as we speak, and I think I'll put some on my salad after I get back from the gym :D
As long as you don't go over your cals or eat too much fat (I think the healthy daily amount is around 64 grams of fat) you'll be fine!
They do have a lot of fat, but it's a healthy type of fat. So it would be better to get your fat from these than from other places that have the unhealthy forms of fat.
Not bad for you - in fact you do need fat, and nuts and avocadoes are a great source. However, being high in fat/calories, they may make weight loss more challenging. So unless you are cutting back in other areas, you might want to ask that they put less than half of an avocado (or make your own) or skip the avocado every other day or something.
thanks everyone! yea i LOVE them but I will definitely make sure im watching whatever else i eat that day to compensate!
