I was wondering...how in the world can you stop these nasty late night binges?! i exercise a lottt throughout the day. i burn about 700 calories through physical activity. but i find myself just eating EVERYTHING at night! and only at night! i weigh 112 pounds and am 5'3, and although this is a pretty normal weight, i would still like to stop overeating my calories! i can eat about 2700 calories a day just because of my late night binges. ugh stupid cereal and its deliciousness =[

Stop eating. Tell yourself that only you control your actions and emotions. It works, really. When I felt like I badly needed another bowl of cereal (pre-weight gain), I would just ask myself if I really needed it. I would tell myself that it was just a sugar craving. It works for me.

aw thanks so much, i'll try that..probably sounds easier than it really is, but hey everything takes time right? Smile

Keep yourself occupied!!!!

Drink tea, chew gum! When you are eating, chew slowly and drink between every bite! This way you give your body time to signal to the brain that you are full. After you finish eating, come on CC for 20 min, keep yourself busy!

When your body makes you binge late at night it usually is because you aren't eating enough during the day, and you aren't eating frequently enough. This is most likely especially the case if you exercise a lot throughout the day. Eat more, and eat more frequently. Carry around snacks with you that are healthy. Make sure you are eating enough fat to stay satiated a well. Take those 700 calories that you burn off and spread them out throughout the day in addition to your other meals. Small baggies of nuts or fresh fruit and vegetables are easy to carry with you and would help your body stay satisfied so that you aren't binging late at night.

Drinking tea and chewing gum and telling yourself not to eat are not the answer if your body really needs the calories. Often we binge because our body is not getting what it needs throughout the day.

What do you eat normally in a twenty-four hour period?

A binge is sometimes your body's way of getting nutrition.  Your body won't stop eating until it meets its nutritional goals.  Consuming the correct balance of all of the food groups each day will help with your binging,

You need to consume at least
3-5 servings of fruit,
3-8 servings of veggies,
3-6 servings of carbs,
3-5 servings of proteins,
3 servings of dairy
3 servings of  good fats
every day.

And keeping hydrated helps as well, your body will misread dehydration as hunger.

I hope that this helps you.

You need to look at whether you are actually hungry or just think you are! If you exercise hard in the day, but don't eat enough you will feel hungry in the evening. The best thing is to drink water and see if the pangs go away, as like someone has said, sometimes the brain confuses the hunger signal when actually you just need to drink! Cerial I know is not only convieniant but also a fairly balanced snack so it is easy to get caught up eating it!

From one evening snacker to another, what I have found to work for me is to eat little and often through out the day. I cut back slightly my evening meal, drink plenty but hold off having anything after I have eaten like a fruit or yoghurt until 1-2 hours after I have eaten. I then enjoy my snack with a big glass of water and that holds off any hunger before bed. It might just be bordem, so chew gum and get up and do something or relax in the bath, you won't eat cerial in the bath Laughing

The other thing to ask is, what are you doing in the evenings? If you are working out, you will probably need something eat. Stick to lean protien if thats the case, but eat a peice of fruit before you work out to give you energy. If you are sedentry in the evenings, then eat big in the mornings, a good lunch, a lighter dinner and a small snack in the evenings.

I try my best to eat small meals throughout the day. unfortunately, i have a very sensitive stomach so i actually HAVE to eat small meals throughout the day, but that also means my body probably thinks its not getting enough each time, causing me to eat a lot during the night. thanks to everyone who replied! i also tried eating my "one treat" during the afternoon, when im not so prone to binging.
