WooHoo! New Milestone reached
I am so pumped. Weighed myself this morning and discovered that I had broke the 90 pounds lost mark. I'm just so good, I can't stand myself.
And on top of that, my triglycerides are down into the healthy range and my cholesterol is down over 100 points from it's worst level without medication (still not where it needs to be, but about as good as when I was on cholesterol meds before I started my diet). Now once I get off the current medication I am on, I can start the cholesterol meds again and get my cholesterol into the healthy zone.
That's 90.6 pounds in 232 days (about 2.73 lbs per week). And I'm getting in an extra workout today, patting myself on the back. ![]()
I just love it when a plan comes together.
Thank you.....thank you very much.
<there goes some more exercise...taking a bow...wonder how many calories expended doing that> :)
WAY TO GO!!!!! YOU ROCK!
i hope to break that 90 mark sometime before the summer hits! This girl is getting a bikini!!!!!
~H~
congrats on your goal, 90lbs is a lot.
I read your profile and noticed your a sys admin, that's what i want to do when I'm a little older, I'm currently going to school for software engineering. I also noticed you like anime so it's good to know I'm not the only geek on here.

Thanks. The sad thing about me liking anime is that I'm 43. Young people like yourself (you are about a year older than my son) can like anime and people don't think much of it. People just think I'm weird, except for the other anime geeks I work with, of course.
Good luck in school and with your health goals. My only advice to you would be that learning to make healthy choices as a young woman will make it easier when you get to be as old as me. Trying to unlearn all of my old bad habits is one of the biggest challenges I have to face, so I applaud you for starting now.
As far as your career choice, be prepared for some resistance when you start looking. For some idiotic reason, a lot of my colleagues have no respect for women sysadmins. But don't let the neanderthals in the IT field stop you from pursuing your dreams. I make a comfortable living doing what I do and if you can handle the stress, then I say go for it.
Yes!!!!
This is most triumphant news!
Benn recently diagnosed with a heart defect that has landed me in the have to watch everything state.

Whoot whoot!!!
That is so incredibly awesome and inspiring ... you keep it up!
Congratulations on maintaining through all this time to reach such an important milestone. It shows a lot of courage, discipline and personal strength!
YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!!
That's an awsome news!! Stay healthy!! ;]

meh, I know plenty of people in their 40's who like anime so I consider it normal behavior. And thanks for the advice, I'm not to worried about the health thing because I've already turned into a bit of a health freak ever since I started taking kung fu a few years ago.
I haven't really come across much resistance yet in IT, but I also have a pretty impressive resume for a 20 yr old and am on the way to getting a few certifications under my belt, so I'm not to worried about that either.
Thanks for the advice and congrats on your milestone

It's good you are not seeing the resistance in IT. I remember when I helped to hire my replacement at a company in 1997. The best qualified candidate was a woman with a very impressive set of skills, but I basically had to threaten to leave without helping to find my replacement before they offered her the job. Sheer stupidity. It has gotten better since then, but I still find that some of my colleagues are resistant to hiring women. Hopefully you will never have to deal with that.
And I like the idea of martial arts as exercise. I think I may have to start doing Tae Kwon Do again. Just have to make sure this time to not let any 17 year old girls kick me in the eye or gangly 16 year old boys kick me in the throat (part of the reason I quit last time). It's embarrassing for a guy as big as me to let yourself be taken out by a cheerleader, even if she is a black belt. :)
Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
