Should I work out while I am on my cycle?
Asked by anonymous on Sep 23, 2009 in Fitness

I feel real sluggish and I wonder is it a good thing to do while I am on my cycle.

Answer

As long as you are not suffering from severe cramps and nausea, you should definitely work-out during your period. Gentle yoga poses, such as pelvic tilts and cat/cow stretch, can feel especially good, while a brisk walk or bike ride may shake off lethargy. Swimming and water exercises can take the pressure off your back and submersion in water can reduce swelling as well. Research shows that women who exercise regularly during their periods may be less troubled overall by cramps and PMS.
