Hi everyone! I am wondering where do you all workout / exercise? There really isn't a good place near me and my high school gym sucks. What do I do if I'm not on a sports team? I still want to look good!
I work out at the local track by my house. You could easily run around your neighborhood and do workouts from magazines or dvd's.
Agreed. If your neighbourhood is safe to jog around try that, or invest in a couple of work-out videos and a stability ball (usually very cheap). Homemade weights are easily made with empty milk cartons - seal them well - filled with water or sand. If you're after other forms of cardio without equipment, there are starjumps, jogging on the spot or jogging up and down the stairs. Do not do the last one if your stairwell isn't safe or if you're going to annoy the hell out of housemates doing it, though, and if you do do it go down the stairs SLOWLY.
I like Taebo...a lot. And I also like to take night time strolls. May bump it up to jogging some nights if I am up to it.
I do it in my room! :D
Workout videos are awesome. I highly recomend Turbo Jam, it's extremely fun.
Youtube has a few exercise routines on there. You can probably find a bunch if you google it.
Jump roping is also something that's cheap and you can do practically anywhere as long as you have enough space.
in my basement we have a treadmill, bike, and weight machine so i usually just work out there
When I was in high school I got a student membership to the YWCA, it was like $25/month and I loved it! I would go early in the morning or late at night after I finished my homework.
College was a different story, th ey had the student rec&nb sp;center- what a bunch of crock! I hated it. Now I have a membership to the YMCA (free as a part of my schooling) and a membership to a smaller, personal, gym...plus a trainer.
It really is up to y ou and your likes/dislikes,&nb sp;and of course what you can&nb sp;or want to afford. I personally hate working  ;out at home and am not a fan DVDs or the huge chain gyms, I like free weights, funky step up things, and other random equipment. I favor more personalized/community friendly places, and the outdoors of course. =)
Choose something or somewhere that you feel comfortable and will continue to go to, otherwise it's a waste. I've done that many a time. I wish you the best of luck in your search for the perfect place to workout!
Find a good place to run in your neighborhood- if it's safe. There's a park by my house with lots of hills, and I love to run there. I also love to run around the neighborhood- it gives me a better sense of direction that I can use when I drive!
I do my circuits in my room- same with my tiny amount of yoga. I'm planning on doing a ten minute circuit in my room and then shower every morning before school.
I usually workout in my room- its quiet and I can focus a lot easier! I put on some music and no one bothers me!
I do simple weight lifting for ten minutes in the morning, before breakfast. When I get home, I usually bike ride up and down my driveway, which is a quarter of a mile long. I go for about fifty minutes- one session for thirty minutes and another for twenty.
Oh, and I skip around when I'm at the mall or something, haha. :) People look at you kind of funny, but get a friend to do it with you. Its a way to pass the time and you'll have fun doing it! My friends and I started it as a joke and now, its a habit! :)
Anywhere I possibly can. I used to run on my treadmill a lot but found it boring. So throughout the day I usually just find about ten minutes here and there to do jumping jacks or jog in place or something. I'm sure it's not as good as running an hour on the treadmill...but man, I hate that thing with a passion.
I am a very, very, VERY fidgetty person. I always have to be moving somehow when I'm doing naything. Though, when it comes to working out I have to say it goes in this order.
1-Roller Derby/Roller skate to stores/down the street, etc
2- Walk to stores/down the street/etc
3- Gym (Though I'm self-conscious about that)
4- dancing like a maniac in my room
5- (Using either 1 or two) go to the local arcade and play Dance Dance Revolution/Dancing games.
I don't have much room to do a lot in my room, so videos are kind of kept for when I'm home alone (Which is rare).
I use a set of dumbells at home for a total body workout.
Military press, 3 sets
Push-ups, 3 sets
Chair dips 3 sets
Pull-ups (Doing pull downs for now) 3 sets
Dumbell curls 3 sets
Squats 3 sets
Lunges 3 sets
Crunches/Sit-ups 3 set
Leg Lifts 3 set

I also fidget a lot and try to always keep moving. Every little bit helps, right?
As for working out, I usually just go for walks or go up and down the stairs. I used to belong to a gym but they had a nasty habit of trying to lock you into a three-year contract and it was really expensive. I'd like to join a gym again but I don't want to be locked into a long contract when I'll be going off to college in a year and will have a recreational center there for free.
Not sure where you live, but our local community college has a really nice gym, and the rates for non-students who live in our county are very inexpensive. I think it's around $30.00 per semester. Wayyy cheaper than your typical health club, and they have roughly the same equipment.
Personally, I work out at Gold's gym. I picked up a three year fully paid membership for $50 + the $100 Gold's transfer fee off of craigslist (gotta love suckers that pay in advance). I have seen a lot of adds like that in my local craigslist where people are just trying to get out of the contract. I like working out at a gym because they have every piece of equipment known to man so that I can try new things all of the time. By doing that it helps me stay excited about exercising.
In the past I have worked out at my local college gym. I could usually go in and workout with my friends who were attending for free (as long as they picked me up a shirt from the equipment desk). When they weren't able to snag me an extra shirt it cost $1 for entry.
When I am not able to find a gym, walking does the trick. I try to do at least three miles or more each night, and I also try to do push-ups/sit-ups and other basic calisthenics morning/night.
Well I run Cross Country and Track, and then Irish Dance, so I mainly work out at my school and my dance studio during the season. However, in the off season, I use jump roping in place of my running for cardio, and I dance in my living room.
Everyday, irregaurdless of in or off season, I strength train through pushups, situps, wall sits, and calve crunches. These can easily be done in one's home. If you an able body, then you have all you need! And these are some great exercises for every body part, too.
Wii Fit! It's fun, cheap, convenient, and weather is never an issue. You also get instant feedback. It tracks your weight and BMI and even 'scolds' you, which I find hilarious.
I'm limited to very low impact by osteoarthritis in my spine, osteoporosis in one hip, osteopenia in the other hip plus a knee replacement is in my future, so Yoga has been my savior. If you've never done it, you need to have a trained instructor teach you proper alignment. Once you learn, get on the Wii fit board and have fun while you increase flexibility and muscle tone. Done properly, it's hard work and you will find muscles you never knew you had.
