work out guilt

Quote  |  Reply

i feel so guilty on days i dont work out. days like today, where i may, who knows cause its only noon, but im exhausted because i went to the gym twice yesterday. i know i should listen to my body because its apparently asking for a day off right? maybe ill have the energy for SOMETHING by 4 or 5, but i just feel lazy when i dont go.. even if its because im so tired.

ive had one other day like this this week. i think it was tues or wed, i was just so exhausted i couldnt go to the gym.

anyone else feel guilt like this? or do you just say "my body needs it" and thats that?

is it normal to be this tired on these days? i feel like i could just lounge around and sleep all day.

Hun you're probably overdoing it, and i've been there. I sooo know what you mean about the exhaustion and you might want to get your bloodwork done.. I got excercise-induced anemia when i had dance 5 days a week and worked out 6 days a week, i wasn't resting enough either. I was exhausted ALL the time and felt like i couldn't get out of bed even if i slept for 18 hours straight and skipped morning colege classes. The only way to beat it is to completely rest for 1 week or so and then get back on track but gradually and find what works for you.

This sounds so crazy i bet, but u really need to convince yourself with the logic that if u don't take ur rest days.. u won't be able to keep ur fitness routine up for the long term without being completely exhausted and doing your body more harm than good. And since everyone's seeking health here, this should feel in line with your goals and absolutely guilt-free :)

Hope you feel better soon!

thanks! i do feel better now that its 530pm haha, but im gonna take the rest of the day off anyway. i have a conditioning class at 9am and i want to be rested for it so that i make sure i go, because its my first one and sounds like fun :) i find weird things fun. lol.

well as long as you feel alright! :) that's good to hear.

Hi, laury. It's not just that you need to rest to be able to have the energy to keep working out.   Your body uses the rest time to build itself back up and make you stronger. That's right, the rest time is critical for you to actually get the benefit of your exercise.

When your body tells you to rest, please listen. You will get better results if you rest than if you work all the time.
