work out questions

Quote  |  Reply

How ofter should I change my workout routine? I just started doing tae bo 3-5 times a week. Should I just change my DVD every 4 weeks or whenever it gets too easy?

Is it normal to see results after only 2 weeks of working out? I can already tell my tummy is flatter and my body is more muscular.

Last question. How much weight is it normal to gain when you first start working out? The first week I started working out I gained 5 lbs but this week I seemed to have lost 1 :)

How often you change your routine is a matter of opinion so it's completely up to you. Cross training is very beneficial since it keeps your body guessing as to the type of workout and as you mentioned it helps when your main workout gets too easy. If you like your workout routine and it's tough, then just do that. If it gets too easy, then change it. You could also do tae-bo 3 times a week and then weight training or cardio 2-3 days a week.

If you're on a weight loss diet and start incorporating work outs, then it is perfectly normal to lose a pound a week. Therefore, in 2 weeks you could probably see a little difference if you lost weight each week.

Lastly, I don't know what you mean. Normally people who start working out when they never worked out before LOSE weight because of the added level activity. The only difference is if you normally "work out" by doing cardio and then start weight training and eating more protein to gain muscle, which would result in weight gain. I honestly have no idea why you gained 5 pounds your first week. No offense but you certainly did not gain 5 pounds of muscle, but since you were working out you definitely did not gain 5 pounds of fat either. Maybe someone else can answer this.
