After work snack breakdowns
a year ago i got very motivated and lost 20 pounds with the help of this site, all of you, and willpower.
Now I'm back again, after gaining back 10 of those pounds (back then i never would have thought i'd be back here again saying this after only a year). I stayed active even after i started eating unhealthy and now i'm trying to stay active and eat healthier and within a better calorie range so i'll get rid of those recurring pounds. My only problem is when i get home from work...
While i'm there, i'm content with my snacks/lunch, which leave me with about 600 left for the evening to eat dinner and snack and maybe a glass of wine.
I know all of this and yet I still end up going extremely over my alloted amount when i have my after work snack. Any advice? i've tried healthier snacking, snacking more through the day, eating something just before the end of the workday and nothing has helped...i still end up just around maintenance everyday because of this after work craving.
Are you getting enough healthy fats and protein, carbs etc??
Are you hungry when you snack after wotk or do you just snack because the food is there.
If you are hungry then prehaps you are needing more of something in your diet, more protein maybe??
Are you craving particular things, sweet things, savory things? Maybe youre atually lacking something in your diet and the reason your are craving is becuase your body is trying to tell you you need it. I know that when im craving carbs or something sweet its because my blood sugar is low and my body is telling me that i need to get it up.
If you arent hungry when snacking and just snacking becuase the food is there, prehaps you are stressed, have something emotional going ona nd you are snacking becuase of this.
it's probably quite a bit of both those reasons. I know i'm not getting enough healthy foods, i'm adjusting to a new job so i'm having trouble getting smart choices for meals and at the same time i'm trying to restrict calories (to 1600 a day, which hasn't worked once)...also, because of the new job and also largely because my husband and i bought a house two months ago, I'm constantly feeling stressed. I'll try doing yoga and making healthier meal choices! thank you for helping me realize i'm not hopeless!
Maybe you are saving too many calories for dinner, so by the time you get home, you are super hungry lol.
Saving 600 for after work means that if you ate a little more during the day, and left say, 450 - 500 for dinner, then you would come home and not feel the need to devour too much food. Because you would be more satisfied from eating more during the day.
Or if you enjoy knowing that you can come home and have a nice big meal, than that is fine, I have a tip though: &n bsp; on the way HOME from work, in your car - I HIGHLY recommend having a small handful of almonds. Or nut of your choice. OR dried fruit. Or a banana. Or a yoghurt, or tune or whatever.
So that way - you can save a nice 600 calories for dinner and still look forward to coming home and eating a nice big meal - but the small snack in the car on your way home from work will hopefully calm you down and stop you from eating your dinner so fast!
