Co-Worker -
This will hopefully be a short rant. I work with a gentleman, who may be a perfectly nice guy, but we have to work together and I have issues with his work ethic. He has no initiative, has poor presentation skills, is unalbe to think independently, and just gets on my last nerve. I try very hard to be considerate, but today I would like to go into his office and smack him. He makes my job harder becasue I have to go behind him to make sure we are compliant with our own policies and procedures. I think the older I get the less tolerant I become.
Anyone else ever feel this way.
I really really cannot tolerate people with poor work ethics. I do my work and then some, all I expect of other people is to perform the responsibilities of their position. Have you considered trying 'constructive criticism' to up his work ante, or is he just not motivated to do any better? What about reporting him to his superior? It's not fair that you have to deal with that, IMHO.
I do, I do !!! My Momma told me the older you get the less s--t you will take and it's sooo true!! Who cares about what people think about you anymore, I use to always care, but now, since I'm menopausal, I tell it like it is. I do try to be considerate though..., sometimes.
I hope things work out with your situation, good luck!
YES, YES, YES. This is why I work a different shift now, so people won't associate me with this person and I don't have to deal with the mistakes she made and I answer the phone to the complaints to.
IBH - I honestly don't think he understands constructive criticism. He is the passive aggressive type. If he doesn't want to do something he just makes like he doesn't understand rather than learn. He is only 41 so he isn't anywere near the end of his career. I just don't understand why he is even here. I have spoken with his superior, who is also my boss, and right now they don't want to rock the boat. We are slotted two people for this position and becasue of layoffs they want to hold onto positions. It is just frustrating. We just had a meeting and he offers nothing. We had to meet with executive management, and yes it is casual wear this week, but you don't wear jeans, which he did. No couth,
I understand what you mean. I work for a dealership and the between our former recep. and our current they dont understand dress code or the idea of being to work on time. Unfortunantely Im not a manager cause they'd been fired already (the former one threw a hissy fit when I was away on vacation so she was fired instantly). But they will come in a half hr late wearing jeans. I mean come on with our old GM we couldnt even wear kakki's. Its soo sloppy looking and their pretty much the face of the company.
That's really the pits that there doesn't seem to be many options for you. If I were in your situation, I would still try to make the best of it, but I'm not sure that I'd be happy about it at all. There's several people I work with that sound alot like the gentleman you describe, but fortunately, we're in different departments so I'm not working with them day in and day out. In my prior position, I was in charge of my staff and was able to dismiss/lay off as needed. This guy wouldn't have made the cut in my office on a good day!
theresa5656,
That must be very difficult to deal with every day. Since management does not want to "rock the boat," I'd start really keeping track of the extra things you do to ensure projects are done correctly. Present the extra work you have been doing to your manager come review time. Maybe this current pain in your butt could mean more money in your bank!
Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
