Working out....
Twice a day... good or bad? Go for a run in the morning, then hit the gym later in the day?
I've been tossing this idea around for a while.
I do both three days a week. I run just about every morning, although only 1.5-2 miles as of right now. On M/W/F, I go to the gym after work. I'm working with a personal trainer so I lift and then do some more cardio. My trainer doesn't seem to think it's a problem at all and she knows everything that I'm doing. My only warning is that I'm EXHAUSTED by the time I get home from the gym at 7:30 on those three days!
EDIT: It might be important to note that I'm trying to run a 5K race in mid-July, so my workouts are designed to build toward that. I don't know if it would be different if you were just exercising to exercise.
I started by hiking @ 4-5 miles/day 6/week. Now I've knocked that back to 3/week because I'm doing weight resistance at Curves (any comments, ladies?) 3x week and have opted to use my bicycle for commuting...so am on it @ 8-10 miles/day, too. I don't know when it's too much, either. All I know is that the sun feels great, I have no injuries talking to me and I want more! : )
IIRC, the recommendation is that you separate your workouts by at least 6 hours if you do it like that, but other than making it harder to push yourself due to muscular fatigue there's no special reason for it.
For me that is excellent....
