I want to share my new tactic with everyone. Here's a little update on my progress...it has been awesome!!!!!!!! I am very happy to report that I have been very consistent with my workouts and eating. My body feels like its transforming (a very satisfying feeling!).
I wanted to tell everyone about my recent key to success....not weighing myself AT ALL. You heard right. I had a revelation a few weeks ago after weighing myself and feeling discouraged and like a failure... "why am I letting a number determine my happiness?" I know that I am being consistent, eating right, staying active and positive, so I have to be losing. Weight-loss is a process and the fat doesn't just disappear. We are setting ourselves up for failure by being slaves to the scale. Think about it... Does it really makes sense to tell ourselves "Yay I weigh 141" and feel great all day, then the next day weigh in and go "Wow...i can't believe I gained a pound..142. All this work, what's the point?"
I don't plan to never weigh myself ever again, but this feeling of "Wow, my jeans are feeling a little loose today" is much more satisfying and motivational. Don't get me wrong I am tempted to get on the scale, but then I tell myself "NO! What does that number help? It's only gonna piss me off. I know I'm losing, I can tell in my clothes."
So, I don't have an actual number for my weight loss, but I can say that I am officially down from a tight 30' pant to a very comfortable 29' and absolutely loving my body.

Congrats! I have a very similar situation too....I was stuck at 140 for about 3 weeks with no results...but about 2 weeks ago I woke up at 138. And this morning I was at 136.6. Its a great feeling!
It is a good thing to stay away from the scale. I didn't weigh myself for a month and when I finally did, I found I lost 3 pounds. I just bought a scale though, so now I am tempted to weigh more often. My scale has a body fat % function as well. I need to put it in the closet and not weigh for another month.
Good going!
It's posts like these, that really make my day come to a more positive end. I always weigh myself usually once a week, and even though I know I did really good with eating and exercise, I'll let myself get completely down in the dumps over a stupid number!! It's ridiculous. Maybe I'll take your advice and stay away from the scale for a while and just let myself be happy because my clothes are fitting better!!
Thx eva728!!!
Thank u all. I hope maybe this tactic will help u slb537. Good luck!
You know, that's a really good idea! I always hear that you shouldn't be checking your weight all the time .. blah blah blah, but I never listened. I think I might do it in 3-week intervals instead of weekly. :)
Way to go, by the way!!!
I weigh myself only once a month..but I know..from the way my jeans fit before I get to the scale. Right now, they are snug. Time for action and change !
My scale in the bathrooom is way off so I never weight myself, but I took my before after pics, and I LOST my love handles, but I weighed myself at the gym and I still weigh the same... Replaced my fat jiggles with muscles! :)
Congrats! Glad to hear you are making progress. I always say - do what works... (as long as it is healthy)!
