Working out like a gerbil in an exercise wheel and I CANT LOSE A POUND-- HELP!!!
Hello Everyone:
I'm a newbie to this site. I have been working out like a gerbil in a wheel 5 to 6 times a week and HAVE NOT SHED 1 BLEEPING pound. I've also been consuming 5 to six meals a day, which is nuts to me- its "supposed to speed up my metabolism". High protein diet, moderate weight training and aerobics is what I am about lately. I weigh weekly and have been 203 lbs. for the past three weeks. This week I found this delightful website and have been counting my calories, I'm hoping that wil l help. Any suggestions as to what in the Helman's mayonaise is going on
It's going! Hahaha I'm just focusing on keeping up the exercise and keeping down the calories and plugging away at it. It's slow, tiresome work... *giggles* I'm glad you're trying some new strategies - your body at this point must be like WTF o_o but I really hope it works.
Meisha: Welcome back! Now that you took sometime off the whole weight loss thing, get right back on the wagon and the weight will come off. It's good to shake things up once in a while. And remember, if you need help, I'll be around!
Raz: what's that protein shake you drink, I'm too lazy to look back on the thread, I think you mentioned it. I think it might be good to have one of those in the afternoon. I'm not eating that much protein lately. Does it make you fill full for a while? It might be good to curb my night cravings. Now that it's getting colder I start to get hungrier at night. Let me know.
Kizzi: What's this kidrobot thing? The things have no face! Are you suppose to do something with them to personalize? Weird.. but cute.
Heatlh- I do smoothies for breakfast or sometimes before I go to the gym. I generally have smoothies three to four times a week. When i drink them before I go to the gym I put Whey powder in them. This is a protein that's supposed to build muscle. and we all know muscle burns fat. Sooo, I went to the gym today and did one class high impact aerobic and 30 minutes on the elliptical and 10 minutes of abs. I wore one of those things that you velcro around your waist for sweat. I asked Kizzi if she was into kid robot, it's japanese pop culture. They have a store in Soho and I was there last week, a lot of cartoony stuff, expensive clothing and sneakers, toys that sort of thing.
unfortunately I was under my calories today. I have done everything, stuffed peanut butter and ritz down my throat, had a weight watchers ice cream bar, and I just can't catch up. I would have had a couple of glasses of wine :) but one of my neighbors came over and polished off my last glass of sutter home.
Meisha, thanks for the whey powder tip, does it taste? I could mix it with my milk and Special K Vanilla at breakfast, as long as the taste is not too bad. At night I'm already looking forward to eat my morning cereal, that's a ritual that cannot be messed with. Otherwise I'd rather drink the powder with orange juice mid morning.
And don't stuff yourself if you are not hungry!
How many calories did you eat yesterday? Counting calories teaches you how to eat better and keeping a log, like an experiment, is a tool you can use to look back and analyze what's working and what's not. What I want to say is, listen to your body and respond sensibly. If you don't feel hungry between meals, just have a little snack to keep your metabolism going and to avoid a big binge later. If you feel hungry and you already had all your calories, eat a fruit or drink OJ/milk just to calm down hunger, but don't give in too much. That's when you need all the willpower you have. Message is balance, equilibrium. And congratulations on your gym routine yesterday, no overdoing.
Keep it up!
Just to give you an idea of my past week's calorie intake, from 10/9 to 10/15: 1466-1776-1730-1888-1690-1761-1598. My goal is 1600, my calories burned: 0-0-0-423-300-519-633 : burned with zumba class, cardio and weights at the gym and mowing. And, sit down, I lost 2.3 lbs this past week!
And it is pretty much the same since I started at CC. The only significant difference I noticed was that the average fat intake for the past 2 weeks when I lost better was 35% of total intake instead of the 40-45% of the weeks before and I ate more carbs and kept protein levels the same. I don't know if it's that, but I'm staying away from fatty foods even if I'm within the calories for the day.
Ok guys, sorry for writing too much. Have to learn to trim myself, get it? Trim - myself?
Health
Trim myself, don't be a substitute teacher, do stand up why don't ya LOL.
I use vanilla whey, they have chocolate and strawberry. It tastes okay under the fruit and milk that I blend it with. The carton suggests you take it with juice, skim milk or a smoothie. It doesn't taste bad at all.
Yesterday I took in 1500 calories. My whey shake and some cookies that I smuggled in put me all the way up to a whopping 2000. I burned 800 calories yesterday and 550 today. I did strength training and an aerobic class that wasn't high impact. I couldn't help myself I was in whole foods and those freshly baked cookies looked oh so good. On average I take in 1600 to 1700 a day.
I'm weighing in tomorrow morning. I really don't know what to expect, weight or weight loss. I started off the week rocky and did not put in as much exercise as usual. But this is part of my master plan to see if I should cut back some. Check in on me tomorrow. If I don't log in call the paramedics. If I gain weight I will be in a straight jacket on the elliptical machine, because I will go straight nutz!!!!!
by the way what other threads do you post on? Check out go for the goal in motivational. I post on there every day.
I'm down 1.5 today. I guess that's worth a smile, but I ain't smiling. Now this is worth a smile
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HEALTH, ENJOY YOUR DAY![]()
Hello???????
Well, looks like it's just me and you, Health!!! Guess what. Got on the scale this morining and I am down 2.2 lbs plus my 1.5 from the other day. So now I'm finally under the 200 mark. 198 lbs.
I'm not going to tell you how I lost those two pounds. Let's just say I drank on an empty stomache which in turn has lead me to have an even emptier stomache. Can you say hurl a whirl.
soooooo, how was you bday weekend? Did you do anything exciting.
Where is everybody?
Hi Meisha, thanks again for the birthday messages, everywhere! That was very nice. There was a lot of eating out on Friday and celebration at a friend's house on Saturday, not to mention my son's school fair also on Saturday (10-4 standing up! Had popcorn for lunch, was afraid to go to bbq area and go crazy on the burgers LOL). So I have till Thursday (my weighing day) to recover and accesss the damages. Pumpkin picking didn't happen, forgot my son had baseball Sunday morning and soccer in the afternoon! When winter comes and we regain our free weekends, it's too friggin' cold to enjoy. But at least he is doing sports.
Big congrats on your weight loss!
It's so good to reach every milestone and there you are, below 200! Fireworks for you. Now keep the losing streak in a healthier, less hurly way, please. It's important that we learn to eat well and lose/keep our weight without going to extremes. Healthy is the way that sticks for a long time.
Health:
A woman of my own heart-- I love burgers!!! Kudos for not hitting the grill and sticking to the pop corn. YOu deserve to eat a lot-- heck its the 19th aniversary of your 25th birthday and you look great. Hope you were back on track. I did the gym this evening one high impact, some strength training and a little extra cardio.
We must talk menus soon. I am dying to switch mine up. I will post mine for tomorrow if you post yours.
I know, puking wasn't the best thing however, I 'm glad it happened. I know, I'm nutz. Health, where else do you post. You should check out going for the goal. I'm about to hold a funeral service for this thread ![]()
ummm ... burgers...
I had a burger for dinner, vegetarian Boca Burger that is, really wanted one after smelling all the smoke coming from the grill on Saturday. It's far from the real thing but it did the job at only250 cals (thin multigrain bread, burger and 2 slices of Kraft fat free singles). But I did have some chocolate mousse and cake for birthday! loved the 19th anniversary of 25th
, but at my age better say it's the 9th of my 35th. Yeah I'm back at 1600 cals, let's see what the scale reveals on Thursday. I went to gym today but just did 40 min eliptical and lower body and abs machines. Sunday I had a zumba class, Monday, I rested.
Good job on your fitness routine, keep it up. I'll look back at what I've been eating and send you a list. but I can tell you besides the special K for breakfast, I mostly eat turkey sandwiches.
It's true this thread is indeed dying.
I post at threads listed on hot topics. I joined the groups: Want to lose 21-50, New York area, 40s, but I never actually went there. I will check the going for the goal one.
I just checked out of going4goal, it's under motivational. that site was to crowded for me. Posting there became a task. I have a two more sites that i barely post on.
BOCA BURGERS!!!!!! I have forgotten all about them. they are rather tasty, nothing lke the real thing indeed. I worked out wiith a trainer on Tuesday. My thighs and arms still hurt. He showed me some excersices and insisted that I use more strength training. That would work out the best for me.
I will go back on my posts as well.
Weight this morning, drrrrrumroll --------------- no change - wa wa waaaa
Well not bad considering all the celebration this past weekend and that I'm in that time of the month. So, big hopes for next Thursday. I'm expecting 2.2 lb. Too ambitious? We'll see.
It's hard to go to the forums, so much to go through. I'm thinking of visiting the fitness forum, maybe I can get tips for that resilient back fat.
Wow you must have done a lot with the trainer to hurt for 2 days. I told you how strength training is important to help with the weight loss. Keep up the work and here is the new equation for your success:
(strength training + healthy eating)/(Jamaican food + alcohol) = hot Meisha
Note that your hotness is inversely proportional to partying, so the more you party, less hotness. Note also that you cannot divide by zero, so you must party some, just don't go wild. And that concludes my geek moment.![]()
