Not Working Out and NOT Liking it...

Quote  |  Reply

I have been very religious about my workouts for over a year now, exercising 4-5 days a week, doing various gym classes, eliptical. weights and walking.  I have not been to the gym in 5 days now, due to unavoidable obstacles (can anyone say-NO BABYSITTER?!?) and I feel grumpy and schlumpy.  Is this normal?  Will I be able to get my stamina back when I return?  Also, I worry I will start to gain weight immediately.

I know none of this is logical thinking, and this probably qualifies as a rant....but I didn't know where else to turn.  Any thougts about this would be welcome.

I am doing NROLFW and in the book it is recommended that you take a week off every once in a while.  So I think after a year, you are overdue for a week off!  Hopefully you can get a babysitter soon.

If you have a small child, take him/her on a long walk in the stroller... better than nothing!

Thanks...daughter down with Croup, so what do ya do?  By the way, what is NROLFW?  When you take a week off, does it reset your metabolism?  I hope this will work to my advantage. :)

Oh boy you sound like me, haha. I get so obsessive that I sometimes worry if I have some sort of exercise addiction.

You will be fine and I bet you won't miss another work out for a while unless absolutely necessary (sounds like that isn't really a problem for you anyway) so...no worries!

It's always a little harder for me to run after missing a few days but it's not too bad. I'm sure you'll get in there and get excited and not want to stop. So enjoy your time off. =]

Quite the opposite for me - unless if I haven't run for 10+ days.

If you feel you can't live without a daily workout, you could still jump rope for a few minutes a few times a day. Makes me feel better when I've been slacking for a while!

Thanks for the imput, guys!  I get to go back to the gym tonight for Pilates and I can't wait!  I figure this is a good warm up class to get back into aciton.  One thing I did learn this week is that it's been good to rest my body, but I also realized what a stress reliever the exercise is for me.
