Working out during that time of month

Quote  |  Reply

I was just wondering has anyone got any thoughts on working out during period?

I just became committed to running. Had my first walk/run yesterday. But I just realized that in few days I'm about to get my period and i don't want to stop with my running schedule (do not want to give my self an excuse for not working out) :)

So...has anyone had any problems with this? If i were in good shape I wouldn't be that worried.

Thanks a lot for any replies...this really bugs me :)

you don't have to worry about that at all, because the more you work out during your period the less the pain is...yesterday was my 1st period day, i went to the gym (i do TaeBo) n i felt absolutely no pain at all, also i walked this morning for 30 minutes...again NO PAIN....so don't ever stop working out because of it

good luck with that ; )

let me know what happens

Rushie83, tnx a lot for the reply. It gave me that extra confidence I needed :)

Run today even though it is my first day of period and guess what...nothing happened :)

Thanx again! :)

Good afternoon,

I rather not workout during the time of the month but I try to do something active because once I make one excuse a bunch follow.  My thing is I don't have the energy, I feel drained but I at least get on a stationary bike or take a brisk walk and I feel better after.  Good Luck!

I know you already got the answer you wanted/needed, but I wanted to add my 2 cents. Embarassed

I don't mind working out when I have a peroid because it seems to make it shorter.  I also don't feel as tired.

Hi druciana05 , tnx for your reply anyway :)

I also found out that working out during period has it's benefits. My period was shorter, I'm not as tired and no cramps :) This is amazing. I don't know if that was just a coincidence or what, but honestly, as long as it doesn't hurt and is shorter, I don't care :)

Thanks again everyone!

i just wanted to add, for some reason on my second day of my period i am so full of energy i usually get my best working-out session whether its in the gym, running or whatever, see if you experience the same thing i know other women i've spoken to have! its great.

It's actually recommended and has been shown that working out relieves cramping during your period. I'm sure it makes it go faster as well due to moving around more.

Plus, I believe (I'm pretty sure I heard this) people who are more physically fit have less cramping and well...*ahem* better orgasms during sex.

If that's not enough motivation, I don't know what is, right? :P

When I was training for my marathon I actually experienced very light periods.  I rarely had cramps and virtually no bleeding.  There is no reason or no excuse as to why you shouldn't working out during your menstral cycle.
