Your workout Music

Quote  |  Reply
Ok so I've been sitting at the computer forever trying to change my songs on my mp3 player since my other ones were getting old.  I love hard hitting fast music to keep me going.  I was just wondering what everyone else listens to, maybe thier favorite one that really gets them moving.  I'm hoping this will help fill my mp3 player up so I can get downstairs and get on my elliptical.  Thanks

I typically listen to the loudest, fastest, and heaviest music I have while I workout.  I get so pumped from it that I feel like I could run forever or lift any weight.  Its usually music that I don't prefer to listen to most other times, but it just fits perfectly when I workout.

My workout mix is a few hundred songs long (what can I say.. I like variety!) so I won't post the whole thing here but I'll post a few of the best here..

In general- any hard hitting hip hop, electronica/house, lyrically dirty pop that makes you think about how sexy you're going to look at the end of all of this, or alternative is a good bet for me.

Artists I have a lot of:
Timbaland
Spice Girls
Prodigy
Paramore
Muse
M.I.A.
Missy Elliott
Justin Timberlake
Groove Armada
The Hives
Janet Jackson
Fatboy Slim
Crystal Method
Covenant
Britney Spears (believe it or not Blackout is really good to work out to!)
Black Eyed Peas
Basement Jaxx
Andy Caldwell

Songs that push me harder when they come on:
No Sleep 2nite- Faders
Ready to Go- Republica
Higher Ground- Red Hot Chili Peppers
Sick Sick Sick / Do It Again- Queens of the Stoneage
Little Bit of Feelgood- Jamie Lidell
Emerge- FisherSpooner
System Boomin'/ NuNu (Brad Walsh Remix)- Fannypack
I Like The Way You Move- Bodyrockers
Cold Shoulder- Adele
Out Here All Night- Damone
Harder Better Faster Stronger- Daft Punk

Against Me!: Thrash Unreal

Alice Cooper: Poison

Motley Crue: Saints of Los Angeles

anything by AC/DC, anything by Gavin DeGraw, Daft Punk

Black Eyed Peas: Let''s get retarded

Mine is the exact same as "mortalmonkey" My friend calls it crunk??? but I like stuff like david banner, akon, Soulja Boy, Lil Wayne, B.O.B

I've turned my workout mix into a motivational device - I've filled it with songs I really LOVE to listen to (not just fast, mindless beats) and I ONLY listen to them when I work out. Gives extra incentive to go to the gym.

As for my mix, it isn't for everyone, but it's a mix of random fast Celtic tracks (like Dropkick Murphys, Great Big Sea, etc.), fast Hawksley Workman tunes and a few singles that I happen to like ("I Kissed A Girl," "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree," etc.)
Paintedlady- Looks like we have almost identical tastes in music, which is awesome, because I do not know many people into celtic music...!

My Ipod has over 3000 songs but my favs are Great Big Sea, Hawksley, Dropkick Murphies, Bosstones, Young Dubliners...

My big "motivation" songs at the moment (songs that make me push myself to finish the last few mins of my workout) are-

Straight to Hell- Great Big Sea,

Riot on Broad Street- Bosstones

Motivation- Sum41

I'll tell me ma- Young Dubliners

I'm Yours- Jason Mraz

My MP3 player is also an XM radio that will record and store tunes that are played on the xm stations.  Anyway I have a few recordings from the 80's station that they play at night called "ToeJam" its about 20 minutes worth of "Toe Jamming" tunes frm the 80's usually dance and hard rock tunes that they compile together and segway one song into the next much like the workout dvd's my step aerobic teacher uses you know so theres no break from one song to the next and you barely notice that the new song came on because of the mixing they did.

I also find my disco tunes to be great workout songs too - I wasn't much into disco in the 70's but have to admit they make good work out songs as well as new wave.

HAH! GBSFan, are you on the OKP by any chance?

Similar to many here, I listen to hip-hop (which I usually dislike) when I run. I also listen to a few upbeat rock songs. Here are my favourites:

Ghetto gospel - 2pac

Smack that - Akon

Clothes off - Gym class heroes

Where is the love - Black eyed peas

Pump it - Black eyed peas

Beep - Pussycat dolls

Where's me jumper - Sultans of ping f.c.

Me too, hard hitting ROCK, and I have a special clip on iPod with nothing but workout music, I keep it with my gym clothes.

It has:

Metallica

RATM

Disturbed

Linkin Park

NIN

Tool

...um, there is more, but you get the idea. It really gets my adrenaline going. I stopped listening to that stuff in the car b/c it makes me more aggresive! Cool So now I get aggressive in my workout, it's great!
