I've had an extremely laid-back workout routine this summer, but generally I try to do HIIT workouts on the elliptical twice a week, 1-2 regular cardio workouts, and strength training 3 times a week.  When I do these things really depends on how I'm feeling that day.

Cardio 3 times a week.

Lifting 2 times a week

I like to run for 15 minutes everyday, not to lose weight, but just because running gets me high. I spend about 45 minutes - 1 hour doing strength training 5x/week to tone and add muscle. I devote each day of my 5-day workout week, on a particular body part:

Monday = back, Tuesday = chest, Wednesday = shoulders, Thursday = arms, Friday = legs, Saturday = funnel cake!!!!!!!!

I run 3 miles everyday, trying to get back to doing weights 3x a week but I've been awfully busy with school and work Cry

I joined a gym that does a half-hour muscle tone circuit, and I do that in my weekdays at the moment, as well as using the treadmill, ab trainers and fitness balls for a further hour. It's not really a specific workout but it's much better than sitting around the house all day!

I do a strength training program 30 mins 3x a week. It consists of mainly arms and abs, with some legs and back strength as well. I do this in addition to 10.5 hrs of regular gymnastics training. I'm not making any huge huge gains in strength, but over the course of a year I can really see how much stronger I've become.

I do competitive dance 4 days a week, sometimes more. so training is intense. I do tap, jazz, strength and condtioning, ballet. five hours a week. then i have this really hard gym class. all we do is run and workout. :)

I have a question;

I run three or four times a week for 30-45 minutes, and I also ride my bike a lot as it's my main mode of transportation (I'm 15, just one more year until my permit!). And when school starts I'll be riding 5 miles a day to get to and from school.

All of this is cardio, but I've read that strength training is vital to both losing weight and just overall being fit and healthy.

Is that true? Because I don't really have access to gym equipment. There's a weight room at school, but the football players and wrestlers are EXTREMELY protective of their "domain". They won't appreciate a barely 5 foot girl being in there.
