It's Friday night...and I'm bored. Looking for more songs to add to my new iPod. Just looking for suggestions from people. Tell me what ya got!
Shape Magazine has a link to ITUNES playlists on their website. They have a few. I really like them because it's a great mix of songs designed to keep you upbeat and usually includes some songs I wouldn't normally think of. The Shape website is www.shape.com

Cheesy classics get me up and dancing.
I like big butts by Sir Mixalot is great. I'm too sexy - Right Said Fred. Video killed the Radio star always makes me motivated to dance.

Alice Cooper's Poison
Styx- Mr Roboto
Clash - Rock the Casbah, Lomdon's Burning, I fought the Law, Should I stay or should I go
Pat Benatar - Hell is for Children

techno (I think.. my music genre clasification skills are pretty bad) is good to work-out to... usually a nice steady beat, so easy to go along with exercise. try Daft Punk
I like to add in some spanish music too b/c its very upbeat (my spanish is minimal, but it still very beautiful music) my favourite for low cardio is Juanes, but for high cardio try Gasolina by daddy yankee.
edit:
Black eyed peas are good too!
and lately I like Fallen Leaves by Billy Talent

Now - I must first give the disclaimer that I don't like Britney Spears, but her song "Toxic" has a great beat - it fires me up. I also like Pink. And, I have lots of Beyonce - Bootylicious is one of my favorites to walk to.
I'm like you - I got my iPod and I wanted to fill that thing up. I actually googled workout music and found lots of lists out there. There were some songs that I had never even heard of, but, I found them on multiple lists, so I put them on my list.
Have fun with it! Let us know if you have any great discoveries!

I think knowing what you usually listen to would be a big help!
lol....well I listen to lots of stuff. I have everything on there from the theme song of Rocky to Beyonce' to Prince to Eminem. As long as it's fast and makes me want to move...I'm all for it. I got a couple off the shape site....thanks!
I have a club remix of Beyonce's Ring the Alarm that is fantastic for running...
Hi there! I also have a pretty "ecclectic" taste in music, but some of my favorite workout songs are: Christina Aguilera's 'Stronger' (i think that's the name... you know, "makes me that much stronger, makes me work a lil bit harder..."), Destiny's Child's 'Survivior,' The Rolling Stones' song that goes "hey you, get off of my cloud...," that song 'Unwritten' (Natalie-something, I think), Ciara's '1,2, Step' and Beyonce and Jay Z's 'Crazy in Love.' Oh yeah.... and Bon Jovi's 'Livin on a Prayer' and the song 'Out Tonight' from the Rent Soundtrack.
LOL... as you can tell, I'm not to good with names or titles, but the beats get you pumped :) HAVE FUN :)

Black eyed peas - Fergalicious (& the lyric says it all)
Justin Timberlake - Sexy Back
Kanye West - Hey Mama (good for warming up)

My best friend's hubby made 8 cd's of 80's music for me -- I love them! Awesomely motivating I really must say...I think of how I looked and felt in high school and it's like daydreaming while exercising :D
Daft Punk... I agree! Da Funk is one of my absolute favs... It reminds me of the night I met my hubbie! Ahhh memories!
Ultra trance and ultra workout series are incredible for motivation! They could get a rock to get moving! I swear by them!
http://www.ultrarecords.com/
One of my favs to get going is Ultra.Trance:3 - Mixed by Johnny Vicious.

I agree with the trance and techno. I found that songs with repeatitive beats and lyrics makes you pass the time more. I have a habit of staring at the time when i run/walk but that music makes me feel like i am in a movie or something and I just keep running :) Dorky I know.
If you like OK GO. They have a playlist on the Nike+ of iTunes that is GREAT for the treadmill(and probably outside as well). It is interval training to their album. The songs are cut to have fun lyrics when you run the hardest. Like "You're so damn hot", "Get over it", "invincible". I highly recommend it.

the theme from rocky makes me want to run up the steps of tha philadelphia public library. anyone else feel the same way?
as for music though, i usually go for punk rock. fast paced stuff for cardio, and midtempo stuff for weight lifting seems to work pretty well.

The song that relly got me kickin' in the pool last night (Yes I have a waterproof case for my iPod - I'm strange) was "Every Little Thing Counts" by Janus Stark. It's off the Varsity Blues sound track if you've ever seen the movie (since you mention Rocky I thought movie themes might be a little theme). It has a great beat and hard guitars...plus it's a good mantra while working out: EVERY LITTLE THING COUNTS!!
house of pain - jump around
the isley brothers - shout
aretha franklin - think
otis redding - shake
bruce springsteen - dancing in the dark
wilson pickett - land of 1,000 dances

"4-ever." by the veronicas,
kylosius!
I have to laugh! My husband and I saw "Rocky Balboa" in the theater a few weeks ago and when we got home from vacation I wanted to watch the first Rocky since I have never seen it and I have never had a better workout than when that music plays! I honestly thought I was the only one who was inspired by that music! Even though I live no where even close to Philly, I imagine myself running the stairs! Now I plan on watching Rocky 2-4 over the coming weeks when I am on the treadmill-everyone I talk to says to skip Rocky 5! :)
