Does anyone have a good suggestion for a workout video? In college I did tai-bo, and really worked up a sweat and was super sore. I’m thinking about that, but it was very dated. I’m looking for something cardio, but strength as well. Anything that I could maybe find at target would be perfect. Its getting a bit cold outside and I do get tired of the same ol’ at the gym (treadmill, bile, or elliptical). I do not want Pilates or yoga as I do power/hot yoga about 4 times a week at the studio. Let me know, thanks!
Well, a whole bunch of people here say they're seeing good results with the P90X from Beachbody or some of KathE's stuff but Billy also has some new Tae-bo vids out that I've seen some praise of. Chances are, if you liked the old ones, you'll be inclined to enjoy the new ones as well. But I suspect that if you got your old vids out and did them with the same vigor you used in college, you'd have about the same results as from getting new ones.
Though honestly, strength training is generally not an activity that lends itself to workout videos all that much, beyond the basic calisthenics level. You might get a bit more mileage out of looking over Stumptuous.com and picking one of her suggested starter workouts ;)
Slim in six! It's so much fun and they really give ya a workout!
I love Jillian Michaels 30 day shred.
Hi all,
I use firm bootcamp, was wondering is it good enough? I am not a regular workout person but want to start working out daily. So wanted to know is firm ok or should I go for something much better.
Honestly? All these workout videos are variations on a theme. Bodyweight calisthenics of one sort or another, mostly - through some of the P90X and KathE vids involve strength training of a kind it's still mostly strength endurance geared towards increasing cardiovascular fitness.
As long as you enjoy the ones you're doing you're all right - you're unlikely to see substantially different results picking up a different set of vids.
You probably shouldn't do the same workout - or the same kind of workout - two days in a row though, so if you're going to start working out every day, only do exercise videos every second day. The other days - take a walk, go for a swim, ride your bike, go skiiing - whatever appeals to you and involves moving is fine, just as long as you aren't stressing the same muscles in the same way two days in a row.
Turbo Jam!! I love it!
Oh! thanks Melkor... will start by adding walking to the routine..
I can second "30 day shred."
I've heard good things about "the firm" too.
I can second Slim in 6. I love the video (I'm not always great at keeping with it, but I really like it). In general, I would say find one that you think is fun that fits into your schedule well.
They all work if you stick with them!!!!! Good luck!
Oh..Windsor pilates is great too!
turbo jams.. is amazing.
