Which workout videos
Hi!
I want to start my workout at home and then work my way up. I figured a video would be the best place to begin. I went to a fitness store and to my surprise there are tons of workout videos. There are so many to choose from, I don't know where to begin. I don't want to buy a lot of different videos and waste money because I don't like them. Which videos would you recommend?
Thanks!

I love any of the Denise Austin videos...she is great. I have her "Blast away 10 pounds" and I just got two of her pilates videos. I would definetly recommend her!
p90x.
it's wicked intense. but it's more for people who are already pretty fit and want to go that extra mile. it works though. i lost 10lbs in the first 4 weeks, but my weightloss has slowed down/flatlined for weeks 5-7. must... do.. more.... cardio......

I agree with Denise Austin. I have a yoga one and shrink your female fat zones. I really like them. She gets a bad rap for being too perky and bubbly, but if you can get past that she has some great workouts :)
I also have a prevention one I really like- belly butt and thighs. I like the workout a lot and the instructer, Chris Freytag, isn't so bad either :)

I was always a fan of TaeBo with Billy Blanks. I found him motivating and the videos very challenging. If you are interested in a kickboxing type workout I would definately recommend it.
I am an "ex"-dancer and so I have found a 10-minute workout called "Fat Busting Dance Party". It's kind of a high energy hip hop sort of thing, but to me it's not "excercise" it's learning a new dance combination. It's high intesity so two fo the 10 minute sessions will wear me out. The video has 5 of the 10 minute sessions and each has a 2 minute warm up and a 2 minute cool down.
Try the new Yoga Booty Ballet. Wife loves it.
I recently got on the excercise bandwagon and found Leslie Sansone's walk aerobics videos to be quite helpful. She has a lot of videos but as I was so totally out of shape, I started with her basic one mile.
Then I got from Amazon a 3 pack containing a 1 mile, 2 mile and 4 mile walk. The two mile is my favorite and takes just about a half hour to complete. The 1 mile in the pack is different from the one I started with and has a firm up segment at the end that takes about 5 minutes. All of the videos are a bit dated (as if anyone would wear sheer black pantyhose to excercise) with the 4 mile walk as the worst offender.
But Leslie has a pleasant demeanor and is very encouraging so if you are starting out I recommend them.

Funny -
I just bought Rock your Body with Jamie King because it looked like so much fun. It's supposed to be the "ultimate hip-hop inspired workout". I really liked it, but I live upstairs and felt self concious about all the jumping around so I'm back to my Winsor Pilates tapes. My poor downstairs neighbor probably thought I had a pack of wild elephants charging thru my living room.
If you don't have downstairs neighbors, you might want to try it though. It's pretty hard at first, but once you start to get the routine down it's a lot of fun. Makes you think you'd have a shot on that TV show So You Think You Can Dance!

Billy Blanks Taebo! + Winsor Pilates!
Those are my favorite picks.

Check your local library to borrow the videos before you buy. It's free, you won't waste your money on a video you woun't use and they will probably have a great selection.
