Why do people think that eating cauliflower mashed with butter is healthier than a boiled potatoe?, people believe what they want to believe, their all looking for a miracle when all they need is common sense and calorie control
i eat a lot of whole grains and wheat breads and pitas. i started to worry about this and then wanted to cut back, all the time they for sure fit in my cal intake and really make me full. so i just said to myself these are good carbs and it is the calories that cause weight gain not the carbs. then i read this article and some others and i had some reinforcements in my feelings. thus i eat whole wheat bread when and at every meal it if want too, which usually i do, as i love love wraps and sandwiches.
I've been a low-fat/ high carb eater for about 8 years.  I lost 75 pounds that way and kept it all off---until this past year.  I gained 13 of it back.  My diet hasn't really changed.  Any advice????

I actually posted a few days ago about Good carbs/bad carbs, explaining that I eat ONLY good carbs.  I was told that I was still eating toooo many carbs.  I didn't get that--they are GOOD carbs, full of vitamins and nutrients!!!!!! Oatmeal, fiber cereal, potatoes (every once in a while--with NOTHING on them)

I get enough calories, balanced nutrition, 60 minutes of circuit training, and water--but the weight will not come off.  Getting very discouraged.
i would not associate the gain w/good carbs if you have always ate them and never gained til recently.
I wish I could associate the gain with something so I could 'fix' the problem.  Thanks for the response :-)

kimalawry - sounds like you are at a plateau. If you don't tweak your food, tweak something else: your workout. If you have been doing that circuit training for a while, shake things up a bit. Do something that is different. Or higher intensity.

Hm... O yeah, have you check your calorie intake recently? based on your current weight and activity? It may also be that your weight is lower now and your activity increases in relation to your weight that your old calorie intake amount wont work anymore.

Good luck!
i love this post. makes me feel better about all the bread and tortillas ( low cal and whole grain) i eat on a daily basis.
