worried about sugar
So I've been going at this for a few months now, and logging everything has helped A LOT. I haven't been updating my weight on my profile at all, and miss logging an item or two once in a while, but to date, I've put on 12 lean pounds now with a daily consumption varrying between 3400 - 3600 kcals due to strength training 4 times per week as well a dancing and martial arts. Likewise, I've kept my pie chart at about 10-15% protein, 55-60% carbs, and <30% fats.
Now for the problem:
I was going over previous "analysis" dates and found one that seemed a little extreme. On one of my less balanced, lower calorie days of about 2000 kcal my analysis was as follows:
2009-04-11
cholesterol: 186.7mg (62%)
sodium: 2162.1mg (90%)
sugar: 142.7 (357%)
sat fat: 30.0g (150%)
vitamin A: 1817.6 IU (36%)
vitamin C: 178.9mg (298%)
calcium: 1172.9mg (117%)
iron: 27.2mg (151%)
My sugar and vitamic C are usually correlated because I get a lot of my sugars from fruits, but 357% of my daily value?! Is it healthy to have high sugar intake levels like that so long as a good majority of the sugars come from fruits, or is this still going to have negative long-term consequences?
Note: my other days usually come in at between 133% - 200% sugar intake
not a fan of percentages because they vary far too much based on caloric intake.
that said, sugars from fruit are fine. what isn't fantastic are added sugars to processed foods. if you're really concerned, drop some of the fruit in favor of more complex carbs.
nice job on the weight gain.
Thanks for the advice, and to play it safe I think I'm going to drop a few more grams of sugar in exchange for some complex CHOs.

So you can log your weight -- which allows you to do the following:
- Plot your weight curve
- Analyze the trend of your weight (see under Recent in the figure above)
- Determine the projected target date (see under Overall in the figure above)
