is it worse to drink alcohol a day that you work out? (HALLOWEEN PARTY!)
tomorrow im going to a halloween party with my closest of friends. the only problem is...im not sure what the alcohol i WILL be drinking will do to me.
Anyways. Clearing up that alcohol is always bad for you....is it even worse if you drink after a workout? obviously i dont mean as a post-workout drink lol...i mean if I workout in the morning and start drinking around 3:00ish? (early party)
will it affect my muscle gains? im going to assume alcohol would do that anyway, but would it be worse if i drink on a day i go to the gym?
no it wouldn't be worse! BETTER!
The only issue would be dehydration. Workout + alcohol = major dehydration = worst hangover ever.
yep..so just drink a LOT of water after the workout and before the party and you will be fine...i always try to get up in the morning after the party and take a tylonel and then go back to sleep for a couple hours, I usually feel much better when I wake up after that (back in my college partying days)...HAVE FUN!!! Before you go out, put a bottle of water and some aspirin on your nightstand or on your bathroom sink so you remember to take them. Have a nice dinner to slow the absorption of alcohol. Also, drink water throughout the night...you could always have iced tea in between beers or whatever it is you're drinking. It won't sound so dorky to the people who wake up hangin'.
If you workout today and party tonight, as far as I know, there won't be any added negatives. Just the extra sweat you lose from working out but if you stay hydrated you should be good. Besides, in case you overdo it tonight, you won't feel so bad about missing a workout the next day if you happen to be recovering. Happy Halloween.
