Worst Christmas gift ever recieved?

Quote  |  Reply

I thought this would be fun!

What is the worst Christmas gift you have ever received?

Mine isn't so bad, but when my parents first got divorced and my dad got a new girlfriend he gave my sisters and I the same perfume she wears! DUH DAD, we don't really like her in the first place, definitely don't want to smell like her!

A Whole pack of Charmin Toliet paper (it was an inside joke. My mother told my grandma to buy it for me..so she did. :()

Haha..At least it didn't go to waste! Lmao.

we do a family gift exchange/secret santa and a few years ago my younger sister was buying for me. We make wish lists but they aren't set in stone but she went ahead, got creative and spent almost all the money limit on scrapbooking supplies.... thoughtful, but working full time and schooling part time leaves no time for scrapbooking.. plus I don't even like scrapbooking! lol.. I felt bad that it was such a terrible gift.. it's been sitting in the basement since I got it.

also, if someone is giving a really awesome gift we advise to open it last so they have something really fun to look forward to. Well, one year my older sister had something wrapped for my younger sister and kept telling her, you're going to love this! but it's really heavy, don't shake it, it's fragile, just save it till the end! well, my little sister is super pumped up about this thinking it's this sweet gift, gets to the end, opens it, and it's a 12-pack of cherry coke.. she almost cried! I felt bad about that too... lol

OH!!! I just remembered the REAL worst present I ever got! This was like 5 years ago and my loser-a** boyfriend at the time and I were on the verge of breaking up.. well I was asking for one specific thing for Christmas all month and he gives me my unwrapped present and it was in the back of his car and it was some giant stereo that I'm 99% sure he stole! I HATED IT! I took it though b/c we were breaking up and I just used it as the family radio. I should have taken it to other stores to see if it was stolen... lol..

Haha, could you explain this inside joke?

I got a babydoll for Christmas when I was four-years-old from my uncle. It was just a joke, not inside, but Cruel none the less!

Then I got soap on a rope from an aunt. I know what you're thinking, and no, I didn't have B.O. and someone decided to tell me about it in a clever and cruel way. The gift was also given to my two other brothers as well, so maybe we all stunk.. i don't know anymore!

Hmmm, a bady doll and soap on a rope, there seems to be a common theme.

Back story: There was an inside joke with my mom and the guy who redid our kitchen that we had several bottles of mustard, a couple cans of chicken broth, and maybe something else, years old and hidden away in our pantry, only discovered when the kitchen got redone.

Come christmas, and the builder's kids come over to the house and tell us that they have presents for us, and that the next day they are going to give them to us. Crap! Mom didn't think we were doing presents with this family, so we run up to the mall (an hour away) and buy presents for them.

Turns out, the "presents" for us were, you guessed it, mustard and broth, etc. Would have been funny if the kids hadn't mentioned it, and it had just been a joke. But because we thought we needed real presents, it just kinda sucked.

10 years later, I'm still bitter. :)

LMAO! Oh my god..I'm sorry, but I couldn't help but laugh...Oh jeez....

Fortius..I don't want to embarrass myself..but I seemed to have used up most of the toilet paper in the house...I would use it for make up purposes, face creams, cleaning the counters if nothing else was around, I had an OCD tendency of throwing more in the toilet just for the hell of it and lets just say rolls of toilet paper in the house would be gone pretty quick. LMAO!

My sister bought me Jovan Musk for Men perfume.  She just grabbed whatever out of the bargin bin and gave them out.

I have yet to let her live it down.

A can of Slimfast.  This was was when I was a teenager and 40lbs heavier.  My aunt gave it to me.  She's not a mean person, just thoughtless.  Needless to say, that was a sucky present.

One year my husband's aunt decided to get me a porcelain doll.  A nice one, really prettty - but I don't collect dolls, I don't display any dolls in my house, and I had never once mentioned an affinity for or the desire to start collecting dolls.  It was just a very awkward gift.

You know those "granny panties" that your great grandma gives you?  well I got those, about 10 pairs of them!!  I was like twelve going on thirteen-too old for those!! lol.

I wish I could think of a better example though....hmmmm lemme think for a while.

Christmas when I was 9, I got these two gems:

A nightgown made from a slip from my paternal great-grandma.  She wasn't poor by any means.  She just liked making things and somehow, got on this slip into nightgown kick.  It was weird.

Then at school, a roll of duct tape.  'Cause I talked too much in class. (Still talk to much!!!)  Funny maybe, but also kinda mean and not the idea of the class gift exchange.  I think I got something else too, but I only rember the tape.  Everyone else got nice stuff.

My husband's mom once wrapped up old board games that his family hadn't played in awhile and put them under the tree.

When I was about 12ish and my brother was 14sh, he gave me some blank cassette tapes because I liked recording things from the radio.  (That may date me!)  What's so bad about that?    -    They were USED, and he'd taped 'nothing' over them to erase them.  I was pissed.  My parents were pissed.  They made sure he learned his lesson.

When my oldest step-daughter (living with us) was about 16 and definitely into the "looking just right" scene, her mother sent her a pair of HUGE thong underwear!   The poor kid.  She opened them up in front of EVERYONE!  She was mortified that her mother thought she was such a large size.  And who gives their kid THONG underwear! Embarassed  It is still great for a laugh.

When she was in college, I sent her a package that was specially marked for her to open in front of everyone.  I had made her a pair of slippers that were made out of feminine hygiene pads.  They were so cute!  She said that she wore them around the dorm.

Hehe My mom did the same thing! From the time I moved out on my own (2000) until about 2 years ago, every single year my mom would wrap up a 12 pack of toilet paper and put it under the tree for me! The "inside joke" of that though, was that when I still lived at home it was my job to clean up the kitchen every night after dinner, and somehow I always managed to "have to poop" and I'd stay in the bathroom for about 30 mins before finally cleaning the kitchen, lol.

This was a birthday present, not Christmas, but I'll share anyway.

A couple years ago my mom gave me a set of dark purple luggage. Nothing wrong with luggage, I like to travel, but the problem was that she had bought the luggage a couple months before for MY SISTER, who did not like the shade of purple. (I don't like purple AT ALL)  So instead of making my sister live with too dark of purple luggage, she decided to give the set to me, and buy my sister a new one in a shade of purple she liked better. I never said anything, and I mean hey it's still a decent set of luggage, but it hurt my feelers :[

This is one I gave... Our family has a tradition of each person opening one gift on Christmas Eve. I knew my daughter (at 20) would still go for the largest, heaviest gift under the tree. So I wrapped a large box of coal (yup, big dirty chunks) and sure enough she was drawn like a bee to honey. But I'm not all terrible, the next day when she opened the long, very light, tube that rattled (wrapping paper tube with dry beans inside) it contained the iPod she wanted. Laughing

A three sizes too large sweater with a pull thread and a loose button, and the TJ Maxx price tag still on it - $5.99.  It was from my former sister in law (the drunken gold digger one, wife #2) who had just put $3,000 on my brother's credit card for clothes and was bragging about it.  If it's the thought that counts, what was she thinking?

When we go shopping in the mall, we always go to one of those stands and get them all gift-wrapped because it's way nicer looking than anything we could've done.  My mom kept telling me she had a great gift for me and saved it for last.  When I opened it, it was a sweater I thought I had lost.  The wrapping paper guy thought it was one of our purchases.  I was pissed, mainly because I had gone the whole month thinking I had lost my favorite sweater!
