hee -

My deputy office director pointed out a necklace I was wearing (I do not often wear them) and said he thought it was pretty.  I was a little flustered that he called out my necklace and I said that it was kind of a "chunky" necklace - it was a large square piece of turquoise.  He replied that I could pull that off since I had such a large frame.

Other than thinking "thanks, a#$%-hole", all I could do was remember this "what not to wear" guidance that you should not wear chunky necklaces if you have a large frame....

Not really the worst I have heard, but certainly made me laugh to myself!
I think the worst experience for me was when I was 13 or 14. I must have onl y weighed about 182 pounds but m friend was tiny and very pretty. We were walking past some builders and they were wolf whisting at my mate and giving her some nice compliments. Then they turned theirattention on me and said 'You look like a fat Buddha' and 'tree trunk legs'. I was mortified and did give them lots of verbal back but was really, really upset. We had to walk past  them again and the repeated the insults. To cut a long story short, I lost them their jobs! I was devastated, went home and my brother phoned their company and put in a complaint and they were laid off that very night. Just desserts I guess but that situation really sticks in my head as being one of the worst I can remember. :(
I've had that same thing said to me.  It was,"You would be drop dead goreous if you lost weight."  I don't know if he thought I would think that a compliment, but I was shocked that somone would say something like that as one adult to another.  I mean things were said to me as a kid that I find hard to forget, and it has stayed with me all these years.  I have  moved on a certain amount, but I still have some niggling little fear that someone will say something about my weight to me.  I hope to one day get down to where the only thing someone could say is, "You look great."
I got the "you'd be really pretty if you lost weight" comment from my sister when I was 17. The kicker was that I was 5'2 and weighed 102 lbs. She's 14 years older than I am and what stuck in my head was "faaaaat... you're faaaaaat." Damage is damage regardless of actual weight.

Thankfully, I haven't really had anything since. (And I haven't seen my sister in over a decade. She's a regular bundle of negativity and not someone I intend to get sucked into.)

HAHAHAH THATS FUNNY!!!
the nerve of some people! well, when I was twelve and pretty hefty for a kid, I was being shown around a summer camp with my dad because he was thinking of sending me there for the summer. Well, when he asked the camp director about the sort of food they served, the director gave me a once-over and said straight out, "Well, it certainly looks like she doesn't have any problems when it comes to food..." Ok, so it was not a direct insult, but the insinuation was there and I was old enough to understand that the woman was calling me fat. Suffice to say, I was very upset by the comment.
lol thats actually kind of funny tho
I was at my father's funeral and my uncle said "What happened to you?" I said, "what do you mean?". He said, "You used to be so skinny!".  I was flabbergasted. Here I am grieving for my dear father and he has to say that to me. I replied, "I've never been thin, I was 10 lbs when I was born!". I walked away quite upset.  He is so ignorant. Of course, now I can think of many things so say to him....
Upon reflection... I'll rescind that I haven't had a lot of negative weight comments... actually, I've had a LOT of weight comments that were quite awful. I forgot about them because they never came when I was overweight... only when I was underweight.

I was a very thin child... very thin. For a long period, I was underweight. In early puberty, I was also malnourished. Quite a few people, particularly the mothers of two kids I played with, would comment on how skinny I was. (One mother called me Skinny Mini Miller.)

Wow... some people really suck.

(FWIW, I can't wait to be thin again. Skinny Mini Miller is NOW 35 and now she's remembering names.)
I haven't exactly had folks say anything about my weight (which, in retrospect is pretty dang amazing considering how large I got) but I got the "You'd be pretty if you lost weight" from my own sister no less. I wouldn't be and I know it, plain as a freshly painted wall. And I guess one I remember was "I don't know how you're overweight, you never eat." Oh oh.. And, "It's not how much she eats, it's what she eats (being the reason I was/am overweight)." I dunno if any of that really counts but, it's what I got.
I've been asked when I was due.... probably the worst thing you can hear... it's happened to me twice both times by co-workers at old jobs...
"I dont date fat girls"

"anything over 115 is FAT, and you take the cake (and eat it too apparently)"

etc etc.
Ya! I have had a couple people ask me when I was due. I replied with "I'm not pregnant, I'm just fat!" At that point they felt stupid and said "Oh! I think it was just the way you were standing!"

From my mother in law " Girl, you are getting as fat as a hog!"

From my husband " You still have a pretty face!"
from a guy hitting on me in a bar. (who was alot heavier than me)
"youre pretty hot"
"you think so?"
"well... if you were like 50-60 lbs lighter.. but you have a pretty face"
and then I walked away.

I think the "you have a pretty face" compliment hurts so bad... is that all I have going for me? ugh.
It's terrible that someone would be fired because they insulted someone else.  Reprimanded, yes, but fired?
I think it wasnt the case of being fired for insulting someone, its more an issue of sexual harrassment, cat calling is what its called and then to insult on top of that...Yes I would have fired them to,,, they are a reflection on the company they work for so yep,,Id ditchum!!!
The day after I gave birth to my daughter, my sweet but tactless (and very skinny) young cousin said to me, "If you've already had the baby, why are you still fat?".  I explained all about how it takes the body a little while to spring back to where it was and all that (neglecting to mention all the Mars bars I ate while pregnant).  Four months later, she looked at me and said, "So how long before you're not fat anymore?".

(Answer:  Five and a half years, OK!!!)
Before I was fat, about age 12 - "You'll have a big butt some day if you're not careful.  Your mom's family have big butts, and mine does too."

In High School, when I felt the greatest, boyfriends dad - "If she weighs 150 now, she'll be a 200 pound cow before she graduates."

Three months after second child was born - "When are you due?"  (The baby was with me!!!)

Father-in-law - "Do you want some more, Skinny?"

Mother-in-law - "Now that you've lost so much weight, do you finally fit into a smaller size?"
