One of my challenges with eating healthier is I catch myself at night
eating things that are just terrible for me. Example: There was a day
last week where I was so proud of myself for eating healthy food,
drinking all my water, and getting some exercise in. Then that night,
without even thinking about it, I wandered into the kitchen and made
cinnamon toast spread (butter, sugar, cinnamon) and ate it right out of
the bowl. It tasted fantastic, but I can't believe I did it. I froze
halfway through with the fork in midair, thinking "what am I DOING?"
So, evenings are hard for me. Weekends are harder! And I completely failed this weekend. Saturday was pretty food-heavy, but Sunday was the worst. Half a gyros with fries, movie theater popcorn, regular Coke, three or four bite size Butterfingers, Sushi, a beer - it's terrible. My only excuse is that it was my BFF's birthday, and we were celebrating, but that isn't any excuse at all.
Back on the horse, I guess. Sigh.

I know how you feel. When I started this journey at the beginning of July, I would do great during the week but when the weekends hit, I would eat what everyone around me was eating such as pizza, fast food, candy, alcohol, etc.
I knew something had to give so I first loaded the dridge with things like ready to eat shrimp and cocktail sauce, veggies with lowcal dips, and tons of fresh fruit from bananas to apples to cherries. Every time I opened the fridge to snack on something, I went to my own little drawer in the fridge and picked an item. Believe me it has helped. If takeout is ordered in the house, i immediately drink at least 32oz. of water. That way, if I do eat some, it is only a little because I have so much water in me.
I also changed my weigh in day to Monday. That way, I am accountable for everything I did over the weekend.
Don't worry, you can do it! Just remember that one bad day does not throw away all the good days you have!

I know how you feel..I'm a bit of a compulsive eater too..I think I almost overeat on the weekends too.....but I tried to make sure that we have healthy things in our house..and I tell myself that sometimes it's okay to let go a little.
You know, I never thought of it in that term exactly. Compulsive eater. That's exactly what it is - that's the reason why I can't have a bowl of candy just sitting around like some people. I will eat them all. It's why I can't have a box of yummy granola bars - I will eat them all. It's why I have forbidden foods that I am not allowed to purchase in certain combinations (although how I'm going to get around the sugar/butter/cinnamon triad of evil, I don't know). I will eat them all.
It's good to name your fear.
