Weight Loss

...too not eat too many calories for breakfast or lunch so I can enjoy cookies or snacks at night? I am still losing weight, doing good actually, but I will save up calories just so I can eat something sweet at the end of the day. Even if it is only 3 cookies, it is better than none. So really I guess I am wondering if anybody else does this, is it going to hinder my weight loss in the end??

my husband has been doing that for years..... but men are different than women. I would say that if it is truly only a couple, then you should be fine. Make sure you drink plenty of water. I am sure many others will tell you that because you are eating them soo late in the evening, it's no good. A lot depends on how many cookies, what time you eat them versus what time you go to bed, what time you exercise, etc.......If you are exercising at 6p and having cookies at 8, I would think that this would be the best time, but if you eat cookies at 10p and go to bed at 11p, it might catch up with you at the end.
Hey Meredithgonzalez, I do this also. I have lost 14 lbs. in 6 wk. and a few days. I have a very bad diet and I get very little exercise. I'm sure I could do better, but for me this is going to be a slow change. I don't think I could keep up with this life change if I was to do it any other way. I'll eat 2 lower calorie meals early in the day, then have a little candy at night after I eat my dinner. I do not eat anything after 7 or 8 pm. I'll do this 2 to 3 days, then I'll have 1 or 2 good days. It works for me.
why not eat oatmeal cookies for breakfast?
Make sure you're not missing out on needed nutrients because you're saving calories for treats

do you need to do it everyday? could you try some fruit instead? I dont see anything too wrong with it. I would be worried I wouldnt stop. Im just the opposite, I want salty at night. Ive started making hummus, give myself a couple of tbsp. and dip my carrots in it. this is like 150cals around 7pm but the carrots help in the morning :)
have you tried the 100cal. snack packs everyone talks about on here? small bags of cookies with 100 cals..

i always save 150-200 calories for night becase i'm an ice cream junkie and that way i can have my skinny cow ice cream sandwich (or something similar) at night. but i make sure to eat it no later than 2-3 hours before going to bed. i think ifyou are losing weight that i wouldn't worry too much about it, but if you hit a plateau you know one thing you can do to try and snap yourself out of it. :)
I think that nothing is ever wrong as long as it fits into your daily allowance. Know how many calories are in everything, log it accurately and plan ahead. I log my food in advance and often adjust it as the day goes on. I try to save 200 calories for an evening snack. I like rice cakes with sugar free preserves or fruit, or milk with a few of tea biscuits (32 calories for 2).
I think that is perfectly okay. I have the worst sweet tooth in the world. Girl scouts started selling these low calorie/ low fat lemon cookies this year. I think 5 cookies is 100 calories. Yum, Yum, Yum. I have been doing this since I started this program a little over a month ago, and I have los 10 lbs.
rewarding yourself is one thing, going overboard is another.
every day in my opinion is a little excessive, but i look at what i consume as a lifestyle, and i refuse to eat un-nesessary things that might result in not being healthy. that doesn't mean i don't eat sweet stuff. i just dont eat added sugars, or really anything un-natural. if the body craves sugar, than it wants sugar, but natural peanut butter / fruits, feed that craving for me.
one or two times a week limit, with mixed fitness, and a balanced diet plan, i see no problems. on a daily basis, on the other hand i do.
but remember, this is just my personal opinion, and how i live my life.

Good question.......I must admit that I do this. and I have been losing weight. I try not to eat the sweets every day though... Usually my treat is a weight watcher Icecream cone or other WW treat. I do switch it up and try not too eat the same things everyday.. I worry that it may stahl weight loss.
Meredith, I wouldn't discourage you from eating cookies. Before I
started counting calories, I would eat so much sugar everyday. I could
never have stopped cold turkey. I have done exactly what you do, I
saved calories for cookies and such. I never made myself stop, but
gradually the cravings for them decreased. And don't forget it is
better to count them with your calories than to lose control and have
them in addition to your daily allowance.

Meredith,
I do the exact same thing. I love having something sweet at the end of a day, and I just make sure I budget for it. I've changed some of the choices I've made - go with fat-free ice cream instead of regular, for example.
Anyway - I say if it helps you stick to your program - and as long as you're still getting the nutrients you need - HAVE AT IT!
Disclaimer: (My opinions are of course those of a sweet-toothed non-professional, and occassionally crazy cheatin'girl)
