ps: anyone got any ideas why this is happening?
Hello fancy!
Believe it or not you may be eating to few calories!
When I first started with this whole calorie counting business I was only eating 1200-1300 cals. At first the weight dropped really fast. I'm talking 8 lbs in one week. But after awhile I think my body started to retain the weight because I wasn't taking my activity level into account. I have my activity level on cc set to sedentary but I wasn't adding in the little extras like housework or working in my storeroom (I work for telephone linemen and order and put away all their materials like heavy boxes of bolts that can weigh up to 25 lbs each). Plus all the walking I do all over the construction yard at work. I also didn't add in the exercise. So I was basically putting myself in starvation mode without even realizing it!
I upped my cals to about 1400-1500 and the weight started coming off again!
Also if you notice the 1-2 lbs difference in weight change a lot of times it is just water weight that we lose and gain on a regular basis. So a great tip that I learned on cc was to make sure I'm drinking enough water. I now drink about a gallon a day. It may seem like a lot at first (especially since you're running to the potty quite a bit) but I noticed a difference right away and I really think it jump started my weight loss again.
One more tip and I'll stop blabbing.lol!!
Sounds like you hit a plateau and for me the best way to shake that off has been to zig zag my cals. like this:
Monday eat 1200 Tuesday eat 1400 Wednesday eat 1600....
You see the pattern. I usually push myself up to my maintenance level and then drop myself back down to 1400-1500. I think it kind of mildly shocks your metabolism and gets the weightloss ball rolling again.
Well, hope this has helped! I've lost 23Lbs doing it this way so maybe it will work for you! Good luck.

I know how you feel. My biggest problem is that I obsess over the number on the scale. I weigh myself everyday when I should really only do it once a week. I need to get a tape measure and get some measurements I'm sure seeing the lost inches is a better motivator than the scale. Sometimes I just want to throw that damn thing out the window! It would make such a wonderful crunching sound! LOL!!!

Hey Fancy,
I'm going thru the same thing right now too. I've been exercising 5 days a week and eating a 1500 calorie diet for about 3 weeks now. At first I dropped about 5 lbs really quickly, mostly just due to the introduction of exercise. After that I dropped another 3 pounds steadily. Then, yesterday, after a weekend of travel, I stepped on the scale and I had gained back 5 lbs!!! There are a number of things to take into account (including the Mint Condition I had from Caribou, and my overall caffiene intake) but for the most point, I managed my eating very well over the weekend. It is really frustrating, and makes me want to quit all together!
What type of food should not be eaten?
Calorie Count does not prescribe a particular diet or tell people to avoid particular foods. We only ask that you eat a balanced diet... Read more
