Where am i going wrong? Loosing weight
Want to start of by saying "hi" to everyone since this is my first post. Anyways im trying to loose weight, primarly my chest/stomach. I used to go gym mainly for weight traning but i did manage to loose about 6kg in about 2-3months. I dont run alot because get fatigued really quickly but i do walk, bike, swim. That being said recently i've been trying to loose weight but its just not happening. I mean i eat lets say 1 light meal a deal (lets say soup) and about 2-3 mini snacs, nothing heavy, i do exercise and the weight stays the same. Its rather akward because when i am thinking of what i eat and when i do try to loose weight its not happening but when i just dont care, i do actually lose weight .. not fast but its happening!.
I guess what i am asking is for someone to give me a good workout routine for loosing weight really fast (im willing to start going gym again so suggest exercises and time on each one, if relevant). Also meals! im not sure but sometimes when i lift weights or work out i see stars? white dots or sometimes my vision gets blurry and i get a massive head ake .. ? my doctor says because of poor diet but i do eat fish etc .. anyways i would be very greatful if someone could dictate a workout/eating routine from morning to evening.(i need to loose weight really really fast, around 5-7kg)
any help on this matter will be greatly apreciated! thank you
How many calories are you eating? Age, weight, height?
It sounds like you may need to try a different approach to losing weight. If you view it as a lifestyle change that will be the rest of your life... you may have more success eating well and getting yourself a regular exercise program. People who try to lose weight "really fast" a lot of the time end up not being able to keep with it, restrict their calories too much, and end up gaining everything they lost back and more. Its not what people like to hear... but the good news is if you commit to an overall lifestyle change... the chances of the weight coming back and you going back to bad habits gets pretty slim.
From what I can see... it seems like you are eating probably 1000 calories a day at most depending on your light snacks. This is unfortunately not enough food, so your body thinks that it needs to retain and store absolutely every last calorie it can get ahold of... and your metabolisms slows to help your body store energy.
The first thing you need to do is make a list of all the foods you like to eat, find out how many calories are in all the food, and start preparing yourself food with a specific calorie target goal in mind. If you want to work out 3-4 days a week, you will probably need around 1600 calories per day with maybe a 50/30/20 (Carbs/Protein/Fat) ratio for your body to be able to work out efficiently and gain the most from your workouts. Because you have been eating so few calories for a while... you may gain some weight at first, but it will start to come off after a few weeks.
The reason you are seeing white dots and getting blurry vision while you are working out is because its your body's way of telling you that it can't keep doing this. Eventually you may pass out while holding heavy weights and really hurt yourself... The headache is likely from lack of carbs... your body needs them to function properly.

Im not the person that uses a tea spoon to measure the right quantity but i try to limit it around 1500-2500 calories a day, or around this much i would imagine. Im 19, 1,86cm, 87kg, also i regulary take whey protein? not sure how much that is but i take it with water before doing weight exercises (3/4 times a week)
soup and 2-3 snacks a day is not totaling to 1500-2000 calories a day. Its probably 600-800 max.
Your metabolism will slow or is slowed way down because of sever calorie restriction. You probably will start loseing weight again but you will be very un-healthy for it.
Your metabolism and the ability to lose weight will be much better if you FEED your metabolism. You have to keep it stoked or it just slows down.
If you aim for 1600 calories (as a guess) you will need to eat 3 meals of 400 calories each and 2 snacks of 200 calories each.
hi n welcome

Personaly i eat 3 meals a day no snacks and i eat about 1500 calories a day.Im male 5'7
I started in Febuary at 262 im now at 187 and ive lost 2 to 4 pounds every single week .
I walk and jog mostly walk 3 to 4 times a week with small exercises everyday.
Just have to put your nose to the grind .I know you can do it just try 1600 calories a day for a week and atleast walk some i guarnttee you lose atleast a pound.
Where are you going wrong? For starters, trying to lose weight really fast. The faster it comes off, the faster it will go back on. Bodies respond so much better to gradual change in weight. You need to change your lifestyle, not crash diet and then pile it all back on. Safe weight loss is around 1-2lbs per week. This means you should plan on it taking between 5-11 weeks to lose 5kg. If you try to lose faster, you will lose muscle mass, which lowers your metabolism and means you can't burn calories as efficiently.
Secondly, you need to eat more. I agree with the other posters that soup, snacks and protein drinks do not equate to nearly enough for a day's intake. Nearly fainting when you work out is one sign you're undereating. Not losing weight is another. If you aren't eating enough, your body will go into starvation mode and start hanging onto fat. If you lose any weight, it's likely to be water or muscle.
Use the calculators to work out appropriate daily calorie needs. Your diet should be balanced: include protein, complex (wholegrain) carbs, healthy fats, fruit and vegetables. Eating fish can be healthy, but does not mean that your diet is healthy. Listen to your doctor and make changes to improve your health and energy. Your workouts will improve because of it! Remember weight loss should be about health as well as numbers on a scale. I would recommend meeting a nutritionist, or your doctor if you really want an eating plan.
As for workouts, I have no idea of your current fitness levels so I'm not going to make you a workout plan. Perhaps you could arrange a one-off meeting with a personal trainer to assess your goals? But a good idea is to incorporate both cardio and weight-training. Variety is good, repetition is bad. Don't do the same workout over and over, make it harder or try a different form of exercise. A lot of members here at CC recommend HIIT (interval) training as a great way to lose fat and increase fitness - use the forum search to find related threads. Take at least 1-2 days rest every week; your muscles need recovery time.
Remember that you can't out-train your diet. You will never get the results you want if you do not eat a healthy, balanced, nutritious diet. And that includes eating enough.
I know that this is probably not the quick-fix answer you were looking for, but it is the truth - which is way more valuable than anything a qimmicky diet can offer you.

Nicely said and very true! I used to think I could eat whatever I wanted and work out and somehow get my life on the healthy track, but the numbers don't add up!

Well to me i want to lose it fast and will.
Your gonna pile the weight on either way if you decide well ic an eat what i want now it doesnt matter if you do it slow or not.
If you want to lose a pound week have fun.
If i lost a pound a week i would of been losing weight for 2 years or longer.
thanks for all the replys, i have another question, if i drink soda's such as coke will this have a huge impact as opposed to drinking water? some people say that its just a few grams of sugar and it doesnt matter? some freak out and say to really stay away from it .. which is it lol?
also before working out (which i do 2/3 time a week) i take whey protein, 2 full spoons with water, what will this do? in terms of weight factor and in terms of burning? someone told me it will be hard to loose weight when i take whey protein because my fat converts into muscle?

This is such an ignorant response. It does matter if you do it slowly or not, because if you lose weight fast you will lose muscle and wreck your metabolism. Then when you reach your goal weight and want to move up to maintenance, you won't be able to. Your metabolism will have slowed and you will not have enough lean muscle mass to burn enough calories for maintenance. Therefore, unless you plan on dieting forever, you will put weight back on. And if you do plan on dieting forever, your metabolism may slow so much that you begin to put weight on no matter how few calories you're eating.

One can of coke contains around 150 calories. They also contain a lot of chemicals, which aren't exactly beneficial for your body. If you only drink one can of coke a day, you could work it into your calorie needs. But if you're going to drink more, then yes they could have a huge impact on your weight. Switching to diet coke is one option, but bear in mind some people think the artificial sweetners trigger cravings for real sugar. All in all, it would be better to cut back or give soda up altogether. If you do continue drinking, count them as part of your daily calories - because your body sure does!
Whey protein is useful in that muscles need protein to repair and grow. It might be more helpful if you took the whey protein after your workout, as this is when your muscles are recovering. Whoever told you that your fat converts into muscle is completely mistaken. Fat cells cannot become muscle cells, period. You can lose fat, gain fat, and lose or gain muscle, but fat will never convert into muscle.
wow! i guess this is where i am going wrong, to say the least i drink about 4-7 cans of coke a day!! so i guess this woudl be the root of the problem, i started drinking only water and i will try and avoid all sugar, its somewhat annoying because everyone says something different, i looked on youtube and a training instructor was saying "it doesnt matter if you drink coke, because it has a few grams of sugar" this wont affect you at all, hence me not giving it a second thought ..
