WTF are you serious!!!!!!!! “No One Loves A Fatty: How To Put Your Woman On A Diet”
Hello everyone!
Ok I already posted this but OMG so I am surfing the web for some health / nutrition info to hopefully motivate me some more and look what I came across:
“No One Loves A Fatty:
How To Put Your Woman On A Diet”
http://books.google.com/books?id=TfPEp_pXbZQC &printsec=frontcover
Here is just one of the wonderful grains of wisdom from this S.OB.
"Salt + Water = Bloated fatty with PMS "
I am motivated alright, motivated to get some exercise by kicking the next guy I see in the a**!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reason: Moved to the Lounge as this post isn't about weight loss, and is about a satirical book
*SHOCKED* How...how could ANYONE write such a book?!
.
.
.
*fired up, too*
Ohhhh! I just read some. Don't worry. This book is totally sytirical; making fun of our "manly planet" by writing as one of those "manly men".
Do you watch the Colbert Report where Stephen Colbert acts like a totally brainless flag-worshipper who blindly obeys whatever is told to him? If you do, it is pretty easy to spot the satyrical elements to it. And that is exactly what "JHHK" is doing here.
But yeah, thinking about him being serious would DEFINITELY do some damage to my want to believe in other people of the world.
I read another satyrical essay that is trying to make a statement about poverty in Ireland(I think) in the late 1800's. The writer decided to do a shock value sort of tactic and ended up making the essay about eating children(saying that if there was no way to help the children who were suffering on the streets[which of course there was and is] that they might as well be put to "good use".
I had an awful time eating my lunch that day...
I'm sure you mean "satirical". ![]()
Stephen Colbert is genius at the art of lampooning. He and his writers provide for some very smart humor. Although, in a way it's disheartening that he has so much easy material to work from with the current party in power.
I'm spacing out the name of the guy who is on before him-- but he's really good too.
Javagen, you obviously mean The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
I would totally (as a joke) vote for Steward/Colbert in '08 if they were truly running for president/vice president, haha. There was a joke circulating around not too long ago about that with "official" Stewart/Colbert '08 banners and whatnot.
Sad thing is, if they were to ever actually run for the elections, they would probably get a decent chunk of votes. They are too funny and their writers are darn good at what they do.
I am so glad to hear that this book is a satire, however. =) I would totally be PO'ed if the thing was for real, haha.
OMG. This book is a classic! ;D
(Assuming you have a certain warped sense of humor. Which I do.)

A Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift (of Gulliver fame).
Ummmm....any book that has this in it:
“The re-educated man will stop seeing DOGs [damn ordinary girls] as human beings and will realize that they are sex toys, flesh objects waiting to be hand-sculpted into great works of superficial beauty.”
is most assuredly satire. Sometimes it can be hard to spot, but I'm afraid this is too blatant to be taken seriously - it is humorous though.
Myvstarpops, that essay you're talking about is "A Modest Proposal" by Jonathon Swift, the gold standard of satire. Any person who graduates high school without being required to read it is being given an incomplete education.

You can't blame this (obviously satire in nature) book on all of mankind.
Don't judge the many by the few. There is no excuse for blatant sexism.
Ok so going back and actually taking time to read it , it is meant to be like one big joke but Hannah20 is right there is no excuse for blatant sexism.
Why is it ok for women to constantly be made fun of as we struggle with our weight while guys are just like "buffing up" or "training" and no jokes or satirical books ever come up and throw their motivational web searches off track . . . . . .
With all respect, yessica.. what were you searching for that found that eBook?
I think I used the key words Woman and Diet hoping to find like something geared towards females specifically .
Original Post by myvstarpopsThat's called "A Modest Proposal" by Johnathan Swift. Thing is, that actually makes me laugh. Interestingly, what kills the humor for me here is the "YOUR women" part rather than the fatty part.I read another satyrical essay that is trying to make a statement about poverty in Ireland(I think) in the late 1800's. The writer decided to do a shock value sort of tactic and ended up making the essay about eating children(saying that if there was no way to help the children who were suffering on the streets[which of course there was and is] that they might as well be put to "good use".

Well, the point of satire is to show the ridiculousness of an idea by portraying it in the most extreme light possible. This thing isn't sexist and making fun of women, it's making fun of societal pigs that insist the only value in a woman is her looks.
And if you think there aren't websites that make fun of men, then you're not looking hard enough.

It looks funny, I'll have to give it a read when I have some time.
My thoughts exactly.

I have managed to get through high school without reading that essay, actually. This is probably due to the fact that in my honors English classes, the year we covered satire extensively (10th grade...ended up reading a Animal Farm and 1984, etc), our English teacher was a little...well, she was very enthusiastic and a great teacher, but is quite conservative, so she probably skipped over that essay. Not that we didn't hear about it, we just never had the opportunity to read it. =)
Though, I think both me and my husband would have laughed hysterically while reading it, had we read it in her class, and I don't think that would have gone over very well, lol.
I <3 satire of all kinds.

Obesity: The Silent Penis Killer
See? I knew there was a reason I'm a lesbian.![]()
Quite disgustingly funny- However, I probably would not have thought so if I had not indulged in all of the later posts before reading a few pages of the book.
Actually- in a sense it kind of made me feel good, ya know, good for being one of those "fatty's" that gets the ass that we are "supposedly" unable to get. LOL..... a disgusting, but funny giggle!![]()
