WTF Seriously WTF?

Quote  |  Reply

Hey everyone I starting lifting and conditioning and gettin away from aerobics to not lose weight but to tone and gain muscle.  I wanted to put on 5 lbs of muscle-yes I know this will take a lot of time and work.  I havent weighed myself for a few weeks because I want to go by what i look like vs being dictated by a scale.  I noticed a shift in my body thinking ok I am toning but not worried about weight.  I was about 130 at last weigh in and at 10 pm tonight got on the scale (yes after eating 2 cups of lentils for dinner, 2 cups for lunch a breakfast kashi waffle and egf beaters , kashi go lean and dannon yogurt for snack),  I am also on hydrocortisone to retain water.

THE SCALE said 125!!!

How is this possible.  Plus last night me and hubby had a early vday dinner in which I had a huge greasy fajita plate  about  a 32 oz margarita a beer and chips.

What am I doing wrong?  I don't want to lose for health reasons

5 10 125 lb.  Any suggestions?  I should at least been up today due to all the salt, water and dense fiber from the last two days.

Is your scale digital?  Have you changed the battery lately?  Maybe that is it.

My guess is that it's the alcohol, it causes you to lose water, so you're probably just dehydrated.

I was also going to say it's likely the alcohol you had last night.  Try weighing yourself again in a few days and see what the scale says.  Also, it doesn't sound like you're eating that many calories so you may have actually lost weight, especially if you're working out more.

how long ago was your last weigh in? 1 day? 1 week? and what have your eating habbits been like since?

chill. probably lost fat from lifting and put on some muscle at the same time.

Also, muscle weighs more than fat.

Let your clothes decide, not the scale.

Do you eat any fruit or vegetables? Your description of what you ate seems to be lacking those important food groups. Good luck gaining muscle.

You need to track your protein, too, don't forget. too little protein isn't good for muscle production.

Few people know this but lifting weights makes your metabolism higher for longer than aerobics so its very likely that you will lose some weight switching up your work-out routine. If you want to gain muscle you need to lift heavy weights, few reps. Women in general, and especially one as tall as you, have a hard time gaining any bulk because they dont have enough testosterone to make that happen. Also, you need to comsume a high protein supplement within  an hour of your workout or your body will burn muscle for fuel. I recommend whey protein or Muscle Milk. When I met my husband he was 5'11 and 125lbs. He is now 174lbs and 9% bodyfat so the proof is in the pudding, as they say. He put on the first 15 in just a few months but the rest took about 3 years. I hope this will be helpful to you. Good luck!

Thanks for all the suggestions guys!! It might be a little of  all!!

Blessings

Jenny
