Xmas Party in 5 weeks and still not lost anything :(
Im a 5ft woman with a size 14 clothes size. With this size i just look round and dumpy.
I have been trying to lose weight for the last month, have completely changed my diet. No fizzy drinks, no garbage, more fruit and veg etc and i havent lost a pound.
I go shopping for my xmas party outfit in 4 weeks (3rd december) and i have my first xmkas party on the 11th (and another on 19th). As this will be my first xmas party with my work colleagues i want to show im not a fat frumpy thing and have been trying oh so hard to lose weight.
I excercise every weeekday morning (sometimes weekend) for 30 - 40 mins, walk the dog, and have another job that can be quite demanding.
How can i kick start my body to start losing these extra pounds? I dont want to try the silly Little Black Dress diets you get in newspapers but im desperate now.
LYndsay
Have you been counting your calories? Even exercise and a healthy diet won't make you lose weight if you are taking in more calories than you burn.
Yes i have. I dont eat much anyway so calories shouldnt be making me hold it.
im burning off bout 450 -5 00 calories a day in excercise.
its just not shifting

Not eating much is the problem. If you're eating too little, that will stall weight loss too.
You need a numerical value of calories in order to ACCURATELYknow how much you're consuming vs what you're burning.
Hi there...I too have a christmas party and my dress does not fit me right now. My party is on November 28th (real early this year) then almost every weekend after that from my husband and family parties...so yeah I need to lose at least 10 pounds and firm up to get into my dress. Because I am 5'6 1/2" and 160 lbs, It's so hard to lose these last 20 pounds I seem to yo-yo between 150-160. My goal weight is 140lbs. Currently I have been having stomach issues which makes me eat a small snack every 1 1/2hours because I cannot eat a lot of food in one sitting or I will get sick...so I feel like I am always eating. The most I can eat now is a bowl of soup OR a sandwich, not both at the same time. I am not sure this is healthy eating or not but that's all I can do right now and I have so far lost 4 pounds in 2 weeks. my small snacks vary from a medium banana, to yogurt mixed with fat free cottage cheese, and I eat these within 2 hours. I always hear that you should eat 5 small meals a day...so not sure if this is what it is but it is definitely working. As well I exercise at least 5 days a week for 1 hour doing cardio (jogging, elliptical, etc.)...
What is your typical daily calorie intake?
Exercise is wonderful. It's a great way to lift your spirits, your health and strength, however losing weight isn't just about exercise: You have to eat less then you burn.
You need to look up how much you burn now (at current weight and REALISTIC activity level) and burn about 800 more than that through exercise or daily activity (w/o eating less than 1200 cals...that's a min).
Also, keep in mind that what the machine tells you you burned isn't always accurate.
So, record what you eat (do it. You're only fooling yourself if you don't), stay active and be good to yourself. If you start things right NOW, you could lose 4-8 pounds by Dec 3rd. If that doesn't sound like much to you (which I feel it may not), keep going with the weight-loss after the parties and think of how great you'll feel next year! Be realistic but don't give up!
@Mayteegoddess - I think there really is something to breaking down your eating into small doses throughout the day. I've been doing this since June and have now dropped 39 pounds. I eat six "meals" a day - evenly spaced when I'm not teaching (I'm a professor), and on days I'm on campus, I eat 3 moderate meals and 3 healthy snacks (fruit or veggie plus a protein such as 2% cottage cheese). Literally nothing worked before I started doing this. I've seen a slow, consistent weight loss ever since. And, in terms of health, I just had my checkup and all of my numbers are in the excellent range! I think this is a really healthy way to live.
So, 0400772, try breaking your daily calorie dose into manageable bits, spread throughout the day. Also, whenever I start to feel really hungry, I have a 100-150 calorie snack without worry. So those terrible hunger pains I felt on South Beach and Weight Watchers just don't happen any more....
